Please Reconsider Prestige As End Game Content

Discussion in 'General Discussion' started by Nightkeeper, Apr 21, 2017.

  1. In the last stream someone asked about end game content, to which they mentioned adding a prestige system where you can start the levelling process over again and level up again from scratch to earn a cosmetic along with some other bonusses. I am begging you to please not do this because it is not end game content and imo is a horrible idea that just makes me think of COD.

I would rather have no end game content and focus on securing wins over xp gains. I for one do not enjoy the xp grind in any game so it would piss me off to have to prestige just to earn some special cool thing on each character. Aside from that it is not end game content, its essentially restarting the leveling process and equates to just more grinding, that is not content that produces fun imo.

I would much rather have sandbox areas for ppl to play in or something, a map where it is impossible to earn xp to begin with, so the players that hang out on those constant maps would have an advantage. This would work as end game content for fully levelled characters and other characters would need to go back to lobby shooter maps in order to level up.

I'm sorry if it seems rude or something I mean no disrespect I just happen to hate the idea of a prestige system and I think it is a horrible idea to begin with no offense.

Amen. I know I would not be doing it unless it provided some kind of tangible benefit that it should not (more stats or loadout slots both are which increase power in 1 form of the other)

Cosmetics seems to be the only end game content, in this game?

I think it's fine. If it's really such a big issue, why not make it rtc/prestige points? That way you could get it either way.

It's not like there are raids or constant gear to obtain. The game itself is the content for end game. End game content is literally just making the game continually adaptive and fun.

    An idea I've tossed around:

    Daily/Weekly "Battle Conditions":
Battle conditions are were a certain aspects of either the field/map or player load outs are limited or changed, but in a special game you could opt into/out of.

    Pistol only supremacy
    Melee only supremacy
Escape the fortress (because a HUGE orbital barrage is about to destroy the fortress), where the normal attacking force is trying to keep the normal defensive force inside the fortress. Basically a reverse fortress map where the attacking force depletes instead.
Class specific games - Traitors vs Shootas, sluggas vs GAs.
    Fortress map with no AVs.
Assassination game in supremacy, where there are a limited number of people who can cap and they are VERY apparent on the map, but no defending force, i.e. king of the hill with a twist.
Limited LP where it's 500 or some very low amount, so people have to adapt to the lowered LP.
    Jumper Supremacy (jump kits only)
Everything is covered in ick! (plasma cannon only play)
    Slayer/Last man standing
Stealth game - Team Scorpion game vs (something)

    And so on.

Or Guild-only challenges so a group of people have content to strive for.
  6. I'm really not wanting to see Prestige as "end game" content. From a character identity, role play and immersion stand point it's not an attractive option for me personally. So all the knowledge I've gained, all the gear I've acquired and all the weapons I've mastered, all that knowledge is forgotten and my Space Wolf Grey Hunter an now Aspirant again fresh off of the shuttle from the Fang?

Even worse and what would really piss me off is locking gear, aesthetics, titles and/or permanent stat upgrades to Prestige. I want to earn new stuff via the character I've leveled up the persona that I'm invested in, via my Veteran of the Long War.

I'd much rather seem proper "end game" progression in the form of MILESTONES.

-Rewards per 5, 10, 15, 25, 50, 100, 125, 500 campaigns won. Aesthetic rewards in the form of weapon and armour skins. Also a system of character titles tied to campaign victories and campaign participation.

-Trophies. Adding trophy slots on our character where we can hang various little trophies from our Shoulders and/or belt. Skulls, ceremonial daggers, ceremonial hand axe, drinking horn, heads with hair and skin, books, relics, potions, scrolls, animal skulls, poison vials, etc. Trophies that can only be unlocked AFTER completing level 6. The "grind" for these trophies could be never ending as new trophies would be added to the system ever few months.

-Rewards per service record. 6 months active participation, 1 year, 2 years, 3 years.

Yeah this sounds like a bad idea. Just make end game earn Requisition Points for all player characters, so that you could say boost your LSM by playing your great ork space pirate who is maxed out!
  8. I'd do it anyway, even if they give me a boy scout badge.

I may be wrong about that but i find this idea halfly bad.

Maybe with special exclusive currency after gaining level 6 to buy some exclusive faction content(and limited to premium)
