Immersion. If you're a Warhammer fan you expect Warhammer games to be done right, more so than any other community out there. I want a good WARHAMMER game, not some shitty planetside 2 reskin.
Are you accusing me of not wanting a good War hammer game? youre missing my point. Let people play how they want to play. And use Strategy to deal with them.
No, You're missing the point that a lot of people in this forum have. Yeah I can probably counter a thousand terminators or a thousand plasma cannons or a thousand land raiders, doesn't mean it won't completely ruin the game for me simply because it's so outside the lore that suspense of disbelief simply doesn't cover it.
The ONLY chapter I could see "spamming" something might be the Dark Angels. They love their plasma weapons.
Off topic: The Dark Angels (I know there are others, but it always seemed to me the DA were the worst offenders) and all their special snowflake equipment that nobody else has? I'd rather not see that, since it creates a gameplay balance and a population balance issue due to having a faceroll of the month on launch day. On topic: In SM, the bolter, unmodified, is mediocre at best. Kraken bolts, coupled with either trigger control or the targeter perk, made it extremely useful in PvP. I still use it and see others using it in games. As others have mentioned, the storm bolter can be carried in normal power armor, SoB have always done that, as I recall. I support the idea of making multiple patterns of weapons from lore and tweaking them for different preferences. I personally prefer accurate double taps when using rifles and controlled bursts when using machine guns. It is of the utmost importance that the bolter be viable throughout the range of progression, to prevent its immediate replacement as soon as other weapons are unlocked. Things get spammed because they are either low risk high reward, or because it maintains an efficient kill/death ratio despite sloppy and unskilled play. Or it does both. It's not strategy. If I enter a battle area and I see a hundred loyalists all running around with plasma cannons, I'm going to uninstall the game. That goes against the lore, it completely disregards any semblance of balance, and basically says "fuck you" to the fans of 40k.
On a note that is not exactly what the OP is talking about, but still fairly related to the topic title: Let us pray to Gork that they create a bolter that is... well... bolter-y. Not an SMGolter, but creating it so that it reflects the fact that they are essentially firing miniature rockets at the enemy, with the kind of power that means the recoil would tear off an Imperial Guardsman's arms.
So what youre all telling me is - you want a game... that no one can fully enjoy because it would ruin your fun because theres one to many types of weapons on the field? Not taking into account for the lone players that just want to play the game without someone telling them how to. Lore be damned if i cant play a class or type of weapon because it would cause the hair on the back of a lore nazis neck to raise.
So what you're telling me is you want a game: 1. That has no semblance of balance 2. That encourages spamming FOTM loadouts and other cheese tactics 3. Disregards the lore of 40k. All because the "Rule of Cool" and "I Want To Be Powerful" trumps everything else. Lore and gameplay balance be damned, I want to play any class I want using any weapon I want. See what I did there? The important parts of my earlier post:
Im saying - its a video game. Sure have lore - but be practical. restricting everything because its not "Lore" friendly and youre going to see that this game wont last a year due to a lack of profits. You need to understand the difference between table top and video games. understanding this - Allow weapons for the classes they are meant for.
