Well that is a bite of a problam really, becuse the 40k lore disciribes Eldar as very similar and close too a human but withe thin-better-looks in the physical way. So it's hard not to make them too human, yes they have pointy ears, hest they have smoothe skine and hear besid a head, maybe a litlle more oblique eye's and ther are skiny so thats all you can get from the books... The only idea that comes to my head is too add face-tatoo with eldar symbol's or somthing like that, ear-rings, small scars and thats all. You cant add more than that becuse they could stop looking like eldar nad more like an classic elf or somthing more diffrent wich means heresy to the 40k lore. As the rest of the body, you cant do anthing, no tailes, wings or other strange things becuse there are human-alike. There just classic beautefull space elves ;]
I like the portrayal of the Eldar in the Xenology book. I'll scan the picture when i get home. Distinctly alien but with definate human similarities. Pure fluff that book, written through the eyes an inquisitor.
Really all the difference in the pictures that were uploaded by the person who started the discussion and the "point-eared humans" is that the apparent correct eldar look sickly pale and have more slender heads. Oh and one has an awesome as space cat(Gyrinx) which apparently form a mental bond with their owner and are able to enhance the owners psychic abilities.
Yes! I definitely recommend that book to the artists at BEhaviour. It will give lots of insight into the inner workings of both Orks and Eldar, even Tyranids.
Well said, I was just going to mention the Xenology portrayal, but I was beaten to it. Here is the scan:
You chaps do realise that the Eldar were designed from the very beginning to be 'Warhammer Elves in Space' and Warhammer High Elves are based on Tolkien's Elves. In fact the name is derived from the Silmarillion, written by Tolkien, in which the 'Eldar' are a race of elves isolated from the rest of the world. You can't change the pointy-eared elf appearance because that is exactly what they are.
I don't think anyone was saying they shouldn't have the pointy ear appearance, just that their faces should look a little more alien, like how it does in some of the official artwork, instead of looking like a normal human with pointy ears glued on.
