But physically.. Eldar *are* "pointy-eared humans". It's been that was from the beginning and for a very good reason. The Old Ones crafted the Eldar. they also set human evolution in place. So, it makes sense that they ended up very similar. Their 'alien-ness' doesn't come from how they look, but how they think and act, and how they move.

The Eldar have massive physiological differences than humans, it makes them more than just pointy-eared humans. The Xenology book goes into cool details.

What do you mean "Do not go that route?" Those picture are official and how the Eldar are meant to look like according the Games Workshop and honestly, what I'd like to have in this game.

I think he means something like this: please don't make the eldars look how I don't like them to look like.

It is kind of funny how some of their models (like the guardians or the avenger) are so static in their posture. If I were to make a drawing of an eldar using those models for inspiration I think it would end up looking like a human with pointy ears. yet there are some models (and the new dark eldars models too) that do much more justice to their oddness.

It really varies by artist. But then, some artists manage to make regular humans really inhuman so.... However, according to all the lore, Eldar can pass for humans if they keep their ears out of sight and control their natural movements. In fact in more than several novels by different writers this exact thing happens. Heck, they are probably more 'human looking' than a lot of the Navigators.

I must ask what is so inhuman about the eldar in the image in your post and the image that i use as my avatar?

Other then the hair and the gemstones on his head he looks a lot like someone i know who as far as i know is a human.
