I agree, im sure they wont be on release but im sure a xpack or something they will become a playable race type of thing. Im just excited to finally get a mmorpg of 40k. After THQ went under and no longer able to get updates on Space marine or DoW, DoW2 it sucked as they were the closest thing to playing 40k in the virtual world. I live in the boonies now and its hard to get into a local gaming group that plays tabletop 40k which I miss dearly. I hope this lives up to the hype and I get to play tau eventually.

Just saying that the modder team I'm working with for DoW2-Retribution, they are doing a really nice job so far :3 Elite Mod is the name. They picked up where the devs left it and balanced the game so far really nicely ^^ They added GK as a faction + constantly working on adding new stuff and units (like they did with the Ork Painboy, Vanguard Veteran, Chaos Terminator, Dark Reaper, ect.).
You should try to check it out =) It has a nice community ^^

    On topic:
YES pls :D I'd love to see the Tau in a later Xpac :) They were my fave faction (way before the current Tau hype in TT), played them in 3-4th ED on TT =) And my fave in DoW I too :3
But yea, they already have their hands full with the 4-way faction war right now =) Let them do their thing and deliver a great game, where they can reliese more factions in time ^^

I think the Tau faction would make a great asset in the game, and I'd definitely imagine them to work in terms of gameplay and balance. The only problem I'd imagine existing would probably be the iconic lack of melee combat for Tau units. But I guess it'd be solvable.

It's a common errancy. TableTop Tau army just haven't units with armor-piercing melee weapons. Croots and Vespids have a good melee potential. Also, XVs are not comletely suxx in HtH.

The easiest solution to this would have the Kroot or possibly the vespid be playable as well in order to fill in the melee niche, most tau battlesuits also come equipped with jetpacks enabling them to get out of melee range, Obviously those who choose to play as fire warriors will have to have the support of kroot should enemies get into close range.

Overall the Tau would be the most logical choice for a 5th race.

I imagine we won't see the tau for awhile but I'm very hopeful that we will see them some time after release since they are a very popular faction and can bring in a few different gameplay twists.

Plus I would live to see a bunch of Kroot charge into an enemy line with Squads of fire warriors firing down on their enemies from a fortified position in a show of team work between the Tau and their Kroot allies.

Where exactly would I find this mod? It would be nice to see new units in DoW2

I will admit, I like the idea of playing the Tau. But the time is not yet right.

I'm sure the devs will eventually launch additional factions into the game after it's launch. But for now, we should let them focus on the main 4 right now.

There are several other posts requesting and voting on the same topic. But we must let the Devs get around to THIS topic when they are able. Let's not beat this topic with a stick anymore than we already have.

More representation of the lesser seen factions is always good. Offer me something I haven't seen elsewhere.
