Yeah, it's quite frustrating as a War Party of 9 when a random fills the last slot in your squad and keeps driving your transports into heavily fortified enemy positions to be destroyed. You can boot people out of your squad though, I believe.
I've suggested it before and I'll do it again here: steal... er... I mean take inspiration from the Battlefield 2 squad leader system. Complete with tactical map. And on squad leader issues I'll just plug my own post on the matter again: https://forum.eternalcrusade.com/threads/inactive-squadleaders-and-auto-mini-squads.64693/
I'm not seeing the problem as long as they then mark back the objective point The problem is people not using the ability to mark anything at all the entire match. To be fair if you are fighting it is possible to not notice you are now the squad leader, this has happened to me a few times but after a minute or so I've realised and started marking What I think we need is a pop up that gets increasing irritating saying "You are Squad Leader, You have not marked anything" until the game detects usage of the Q key to mark something, in my situation i'd notice sooner so would be a benefit and for the people that won't/can't mark it is a reason to either change squad so not to be SL or to ask on chat and then promote someone else
Absolutely agree with TS! It really grinds my gears, when there's a rank 1 guy as a leader. It's okay not to know this, especially with unfriendly tutorial. The problem is, almost every such leader just doesn't give a Slaanesh's gift about your advices and complete How 2 press the Q. What is more, even creating a new squad rarely helps. Sometimes it's not affordable in order not to waste transport. However, even if it is okay, I often find myself alone for the whole game (I always tell people to join for more XP). That means, almost all the players don't know about additional expeirence for following squad orders.
Hm, why not make it like in Guild Wars 2: if you want to lead you have to buy the "Codex" in the RTC-store which grants you the option to become a Squad leader (or maybe even higher leading ranks) with all leading features. Just a thought...
Disagree. The ability to lead a squad shouldn't be behind a paywall of any kind, but it shouldn't be given out willy nilly either.
Why not simply making an option you buy in the progress bar once you reach the rank 4 ? And before you begin any research, a pop-up appear and ask you if you want to be a potential squad leader at the beginning of the game. Just making players accept or refuse before the game start would be great to purge the players that get randomly throw in the leading position.
easiest way would be an option in settings where you can select to be squad leader and the game chooses from those people. Set it to no for everyone and if no one has chosen yes in a match then it randomly assigns someone. And add in a part of the tuturial to explain how it works with a few AI bots moving to the marks etc. On a side note how do you mark yourself as the rally point?
