Would you like Tyrannid Special Units to be playable in the currently PvE dungeon?

  1. My perspective is from "What can the studio reasonable do with their resources?" This idea would be something way out of the way that is not feasible right now or in several years, that's all.

I agree on the lore not really fitting an individual playstyle and so on. As said, this was only an idea to let those who wants to play their favorite Nids to do just that, even if under restriction. The question should perhaps have been stated as: "Allow those (few?) who wants to play Nids do so" vs. "Lore and Hivemind etc.".

It is more of an attempt at caring for those who love their Nids and want to play them. I do not have any stats on how many there are out there, but it would appeal to that audience.

At the very least, Nids are in the game which I'm happy about (even as an eldar player).

Wow, I see we've gone from "refute ideas as unnecessary or impractical with evidence and counterpoints" to the "meme attack" stage. Way to stay classy, guys.

I support the idea of Tyranids remaining NPCs on the whole. But really, is it so hard to imagine letting people play as a lictor or broodlord as an opposition boss during PvE raids? That kind of thing has been done in GoW's Horde mode, the Halo wave defense modes with enemy elites, ect and it's actually been pretty successful as a mechanic in those titles. It's not a game breaking idea to add a little opposition into wave modes, especially if people actually signed up for it as a party, and could add a lot for players who like PvP but want to get some Tyranid stomping in at the same time.

Having people play as a hormagaunt obviously isn't viable in lore or gameplay, but there are plenty of Tyranid monsters that have a degree of free will and would make great player-controlled enemy boss creatures, perhaps selected as only one or two slots for some Evolve-style 4v1-plus-the-map gameplay. Besides the aforementioned lictor and broodlord, you could toss in a tyranid prime or hero unit like the parasite of mortrex, even give them some synaptic wave-buffing abilities to further increase the challenge for the defenders.

I'm not saying this would work 100% but it's certainly not deserving of the ridicule and derision I'm seeing here. Gameplay wise this is an established mechanic with successful predecessors, there's no performance issue with implementing it, it would give tyranid fans a great outlet, and most importantly it could be really fun. So maybe chill with the knee jerk /thread reactions and give it some actual thought.
