Playable Tyrannid Heroes/special Units?

    There are definitely some out there who would like to play 'Nids, but as of now the Tyrannids are NPC only. Due to their swarming numbers of squishy Gaunts and Rippers I believe devs made the right choice in keeping them NPC for PvE purposes. However, the not-so-squishy Warriors, Raveners and Lictors would better suit the balance of PvP. In manners similar to the Left 4 Dead games, why not let players control some of the stronger 'Nids in the instanced underground caves?

    Some Pros would be less need for AI to control these more intelligent 'Nids, (Stealthy AI for Lictor seems difficult to balance) and obviously - You get to play 'Nids!

    Cons if any are that the skill and amount of people may vary a bit more to clear a cave, and the restriction to caves enforced upon Nids.
    Perhaps the restriction of movement can be lifted somewhat, allowing player controlled Nids to at least stray some 100m outside the cave entrance to better interact with the world. (Something about the link to the Hive weakening to much when going too far?)

    I know this is a compromise due to the swarming Nids and server performance. But hey, you would get to play Nids!

    I have to agree with the developer's reasoning for making the nids an NPC race. It really makes the most sense due to their hive mind direction. A bunch of individual players will do a bunch of individual things.

    Not to say that playable nids is a deal breaker or anything! I just don't think it would make sense lore wise. Even the higher ranked necrons have more of a sense of self. Just my two cents
  3. Nids are NPC's and I'd rather that the devs focus more on the 4 factions.

    I agree on finishing the 4 factions currently available before releasing additional content.

    Guess I should have stated more clearly that I only wanted to present a possible future solution/compromise for those who want to play Nids. It just saddens me a little when/if a faction is left out.

    I think we have to keep the Nids npc it just feels the best direction for them.

    Players playing Tyranids won't give the sense of the hive mind of the Tyranids at all. Also why they probably wouldn't have Necrons as anything but NPCs if they ever used them here.

  9. I can't vote because there isn't an option for undecided. There is so much we don't know about the nids in this game and the PvE dungeons to be able to make an informed decision.
  10. I know it sounds weird. but Don't think you need to make your chose off whether or not they can make this in the game. Its the lore/fluff/logic behind having the Nids as a playable faction in the game or not. Does that sound like its possible to have.
    Nids caring for their own safety/each acting as its own independent thats try to preserve its own life, moving in and out of cover in order to stay 100% safe from range dmg (don't give me lecture on they can take cover and are adapting to it, but the fact it will be the only tacticto avoid fire), and the unit base that will try to build off it to make it atleast somewhat equal to what the regular classes have.

    and yes i know i say thread should be closed cause personally its a bad topic but i still feel to weigh in here with the thinking
