Play Planetside 1 Or 2, And Space Marine Before You Do Anything Stupid

Discussion in 'General Discussion' started by Corphy, Nov 20, 2013.

  1. I completely disagree, Space Marine combat was flawed even for small scale combat in the SM Multiplayer. It was flawed in a number of areas (melee being one of the key areas), a lot of the weapons felt utterly unsatisfying to use and Space Marines did not roll into combat. I'd take a slower paced Space Marine where weapons actually did damage, where melee wasn't stupid and cover was actually a factor rather than rolling around corners.

It just looked and played like shit in some cases.

Most of the weapons were pretty good in my opinion. Ever use the Thunderhammer? Or even the Poweaxe? Those were not shit at all. And the guns were awesome. Melta's actually melts things away, lasers are pretty much one hit kills (depending on the distance) and plasmas were brutal as well.

The rolling was a bit much I know. And there could've been a better cover system, that's true too. Though overall I think the point is to examine the combat system and apply it to EC in some ways, rather than exact every single detail and say it's ready.
  3. I have a good gaming rig. I get 45+ fps with all ultra settings in massive battles. If I were to start sacrificing on some of the eye candy I can run this game in a nicely polished state at 90+fps.
  4. ThunderHammer : OP as shit, broken to the point where it wasn't even fun to use because you could slamcombo and insta kill anything

Power Axe : Doesn't dismember or cut through Power Armor, takes 3/5 swings to kill...Unsatisfying

    Plasma Guns : Ineffective

Plasma Cannon : Fun i'll give you that

    Lascannons : RoF too high

    Bolters : Weak as shit.

I enjoyed Space Marine despite it's flaws, both in the SP and the MP. It was a fun game and at the end of the day that's what matters. However, I agree with Tornadium in that a lot of the weapons felt overpowered or underwhelming. It was still cool to cut down waves of Orks with my chainsword, but I can understand what he means about it being the most flawed of all the combat mechanics.

what i liked about roll was that it was a good counter versus devastator's heavy weapons
  7. Singleplayer was Space Marine's strength, the MP...not so much.

eternal crusade is taking more insipration from the singleplayer than the multyplayer: the execution are only insingleplayer .
  9. That's like the only thing that is different between the Multiplayer and Single player though lol.

I couldn't agree more. I never played as an assault marine or a chaos raptor during MP matches as the melee felt underwhelming against other players. I'm actually worried about the melee combat in Eternal Crusade for that very reason.
