yes, PS 2 has it, they also have a very bland landscape not very detailed armor, etc etc. You have to give somewhere, and I would rather have a distinctive avatar.
I like the plasma effect on DOW2 intro when the blood raven termie gets vaped. ONE shot burning through thickarmor seems bout right to me
I would assume the speed of the round would be greatly effected by the size of the blob your trying to hurl. For balancing do we know how many rounds the plasma cannon's could fire? The lexicanum list the standard guard plasma rifle as only being good for about 10 shots before it has to be reloaded, which is both difficult and time consuming.
The one downside with plasma weaponry is that they are powerful because of how they generate the plasma. The major downside is that ever since the Heresy and the loss of so many STCs and also relative loss of general knowledge has reduced the human plasma concepts to be excessively complex and also prone to backfire. Xenos such as Eldar, Necrons, Tau, and Tyranids have much better technology so in terms of limiting it, there isn't alot of balance between races. IE. Majority of Eldar weapons use plasma or fusion technology putting them at a higher armor piercing damage than other base weapons for other races. Orks use alot of fusion based energy weapons however we all know they have terrible aim and prone to explode because it's scrap cobble. The Tyranids have bio-plasma which gets really insane in the lore so I will leave that out. Then you have the Tau in which almost every weapon they use utilizes fusion and plasma technology....then you have the Imperium and Traitors....we are stuck with the "here, take this and stand twenty feet away and fire at the enemy" because if the fusion chamber gets too hot and overloads the coolant system, it's game over for you. You also have the problem that plasma weaponry is sensitive and doesn't have an unlimited source of energy for all races. Plasma is a form of solar radiation condensed to travel in a "ball" or "beam" created by a containment transportation system as the weapon fires which keeps it from spreading all over the place like a shotgun. Due to it being a form of solar radiation, it therefore has the properties of light and moves at the speed of light which means dodging it is highly unlikely if it is accurate. You also have the problem that because base plasma weapons generate enough heat to be on par with a medium sized sun such as ours, it WILL IGNORE ARMOR AND FLESH. Even just being near the weapons projectile is capable of killing unprotected infantry. However, the lore for 40k has been slightly misleading because they had to balance it and nerfed its real damage and speed because no one enjoys getting slaughtered by just one unit with a plasma pistol hiding behind a void shield.
I don't think eldar use plasma weapons at all, actually. Plasma missiles on missile launchers, maybe, but nothing else. Not an expert on this stuff though.
Riggs is pretty good on Lore stuff, I trust him in this case but made quick research and found the following: http://wh40k.lexicanum.com/wiki/Eldar_Weaponry_(List)#.Uw9bweP1B9U At least the Starcannon and Suncannon are plasma weapons which are vehicle weaponry, also the Eldar use Plasma grenades (I believe same as in DoW2)
We do, Starcannon's and Suncannon's are plasma weapons that can never get hot due to the Eldar understanding of the tech and cooling units that keep Eldar from hurting themselves when firing such weapons. The Eldar fusion gun is more akin to a melta gun in terms of how it works.
Iam aware of the plasma tech ; it's also described in the Suncannon article I believe lol. Also if you clicked on the lexicanum link I provided each weapon has a designation what kind of weapon they are
Starcannon and suncannon, right... Well, they are not the most used weapons eldar have but I suppose they are plasma. Still, saying "Majority of eldar weapons use plasma" is just wrong. Mostly it is shuriken weaponry with some laser-weapons and distortion weapons (D-cannons) thrown in. Not sure what the monofilament weapons are though, but they may go to one of those categories or be one on their own. EDIT: Also, not sure if there are any other fusion weapons either other than fire dragons's?
Most weapons are Shuriken, Las, power and Force.... Just look at the list I provided http://wh40k.lexicanum.com/wiki/Eldar_Weaponry_(List)#.Uw95duP1B9V If you look for Fire Warrior weapons you will find 2 Melta Weapons and 1 Flamer weapon for them These are: Flame - Dragon's Breath Flamer Melta #1 - Firepike Melta #2 - Fusion Gun
