anyone think planting bombs should be in game. Etc melta bombs, Land mines and anything between. Or trip bombs? Traps to give a tactical advantage. How could the mechanics work . should there be mission where you have to defend a melta bomb or defuse the bomb ? Could there be a way to plant a melta charge on a tank that could take it out in 1 hit? or damage the tank badly. Or if you hit a trip bomb it kills you instantly depending on the distance you are from it. Or walking over a landmine. making a severe or less severe depending on distance . Should be apply trap bombs and bomb mission into EC? kind of like Day of defeat bomb missions. where you are the axis having to plant bombs on allied tanks, anti aircraft weapons, and troop carriers. Then allies got to defuse it if planted or defend the mission strategy from the axis forces.
View: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ueBlmU2Ilr0 I can see it being a thing, we already have seen sticky nades on Predators/Rhinos so that part is already in. Id refrain from things on timer though, at least for them to have a very small presence. Overpop tends to work very badly with timers, and the overpopped side has no issues with the same while the underpopped one struggles to ever reach the end of the timer. Works for the likes of CS cause the sides are even in number (and seldom in skill, but you cant affect that much).
okay what about trip mines and landmines? could those make in game. set up a trap by the door . Though you can only hold a certain amount . like 2 or 3 at a time Though you can destroy them if you manage to spot it.
Kinda cheesy depending on how destructive they are on this scale of players, but if done right and balanced i wouldnt mind something like that. Think PS2 has landmines too, though i havent played that in ages.
well i can see it balanced by terms of distance. The closer you are the damage is huge and further away the less it is. then medium damage by being closer and if you are behind someone who hit it or just little bit close to it. using a area of effect damage system.
Melta charges should be required to destroy hard targets. Like the huge gate and void shield generator we saw on the December 19 Livestream. More than just a couple.... Bolters, heavy Bolters, Lascannons should have almost zero effect on these type structures. Larger structures should require specialized drills or siege weapons mounted on Terminators, Dreadnoughts, Centurions or vehicles in order to breach the gate, wall, bunker, ect. There are such devices in the 40k universe so it fits with the Lore. You would have friendly forces escorting and defending these special siege engines and defenders doing their best to locate and destroy them. This also adds another layer to the capture mechanics resulting in problem solving and specific logistical acquisitions being required by the attacking forces, rather than simply playing king of the hill or capture the flag from objective to objective.
Melta bombs should be a standard in the game like Psychopski said, they are plant of a vehicle and back of sticky grenades. As for things like land mines I'd personally not want to see them as a general option but save them for the introduction of the IG and their guerilla warfare units.
