Because when people use the abbreviation of a SM they totally mean all Space Marine related units, not simply an individual Space Marine. A dedicated ranged unit would hate meeting a dedicated melee unit in melee range? Thanks, Capt. Obv.

Not true. If the assault marine happens to make it to the Death Jester, he will find himself up against a rather nasty chap who can have CC weapons and is better with them. Good luck to you I say.
