There should be some kind of drop pod animation (but it is not my department ). Personally, I love the feeling of the Drop Pod in Planetside 2. To answer Kaptin Obvious, I think we will also have teleportation and different ways to get where you want from your ship that feels themed to each factions. We all want the game to be packed with awesome features but we want to be responsable developers and scope our game intelligently. So we gonna go with something solid for launch and then add variety to keep the game fresh as the months and years go by.
will be be transported to the surface by say a troop drop ship? would that be like the main re-spawn mechanic, soo instead of just re spawning in say like a room or what ever on the planet, you spawn in like a wave like mechanic in a drop ship that's making its finally approach to landing. Maybe throw in a "mini game" were you our manning one the of defensive guns and your trying to keep the landing area safe as your making a hot landing? maybe make it so they cant land safely in areas with enemy AA cover or only in bases with landing pads or something?...basically don't make them as versatile as drop pods.
Respawning in your Cruiser would be a great idea. This will make a massive death penalty. (time!) Also will result in more tactical actions on the battlefield.
Respawning in your cruiser, I definitely agree on that. How about you give SF the possibility to buy drop ships for Infantry and or Armor? This would be a quite interesting approach to both respawning and making the ship more important, while also kinda introducing flyers to the game. Also, it would be useful for coordinating attacks, when multiple players can be carried by the same vehicle.
I like the approach of something like a mobile Spawn point. Moving the Cruiser to strategically important locations would be good too . I'd like to see battles for Air Superiority.
i believe there not going to have player controlled flyer at launch, maybe limit there landing areas with AA emplacements/ stations that cover a certain area that need to be destroyed or captured to allowed friendly drop ships to land in said area?
Why not have it so that space battles require a lot of coordination, say having turrets operated by your strike force. Your ship should be fully manned by players, each taking certain stations onboard ships requiring a lot of dedicated players to partake in. This could possibly make it so that more dedicated groups can have space battles, and have the smaller groups and lone wolves be on the surface. On the other hand though, it could mean that organizations will focus completely on space. But an interesting factor is... what if you guys tried to balance the content for both space and ground? Of course I do not expect this at launch but at possibly a DLC, something like "Battle Fleet Eternal Crusade", to possibly touch a subject that has never really been done in the history of 40k video games.
I'd love to see some ship to ship boarding missions, with one side assaulting a ship (obviously not a Strike Cruiser) and the other repelling the invaders. Hell, even a clash on a Space Hulk would be welcome; one or two squads from one faction making their way inside, fending off Genestealers and a squad or two from another faction.
Ultimately, space combat if implemented wholly in a scenario like this, is game breaking. With indestructible environments, there's no reason not to just OB everything around a checkpoint everytime and then just drop pod in and take the facility with no trouble. Hell, just OB everything everywhere all the time once you have space superiority. Is that realistic to the universe? Eh...not really, but it'd happen.
