Pets confirmed, at least servitors are (Source). First post on that page. No real info other than that they will be included.
Pets will probably only be used/seen on our ships. I don't think the devs would approve of the idea of 100 player battles with 50 pets running around shooting each other too. Pets on ships are totally cool with me, no matter if they're only good to look at or serve a purpose.
I will play Emperor Children (in future) and I want the option of a Slaaneshi daemonette at my side...umm...bending over .
You can have half your crew as Orion Slave Girl (in a very light dress) in STO if you want. But its just electronic doll, that have no more interest than any good drawing you can get. Should I have a cold shower prepared for you by my servant so you don't get depressed after such a deception?
I would still think pets can be implemented, as long as it won't go like in most MMOs. What I mean by that is that if you see a player without a pet it won't immediately mean that "oh he hasn't leveled up enough to get a pet". There should be disadvantages as well as class restrictions to any kinds of pets, so they don't become all too common sight. Biggest problem is thinking enough pets for all factions, and their uses in combat.
I'm for pets in battle. But only if it can be implemented without problems, and if it's a combat pet it should not be easy to get one. I'm against equipment spaming. If i want my own fenrisian wolf i want to fight hard to get it so not everyone have one. So in other words really Rare. 1 in 100 or 1 in 1000. i could se diffrent kind of pets having diffrent uses. Servo skull (Spots enemy with its "radar") Gun servo skull (carying a bolt pistol) Fenrisian wolves (Bity) Cyberwolf (Bityer) Cyberraven (like servo skull) Squigs (Bites) Bomb squigs (Explodes) and so on. to see someone with a pet i want to think "WOW that guy/girl have realy fought hard to get it" and not think "WoW everyone have it"
