Extrovious' eagerness for combat becomes apparent as he storms first into the fray, propelled by the jet engines he smashes into the Greenskins and whips his halberd around. Powered weapon flares to life, the exotic blade forged under the watchful gaze of the Sorcerer-smiths of Tizca carves through the alien bodies with ease, the Assault Legionary killing two enemies with each swipe. But with each felled enemy more rise their ugly snouts and Extrovious founds himself assaulted from all sides, despite their frail looks the choppas prove to be enough to deal damage to power armor, at least when wielded by angry Orks. One hit carves a deep gouge in his left thigh while another blow sends the legionary reeling backwards as his helmet eats the biggest brunt of a spiked club that went as a mace in Greenskin society (OOC @DeranVendar you can kill 3 Boys with your next post). But his assault was enough to momentarily halt the Orkish advance as they now completely turned their focus away from the Solar Auxilia troopers and on the incoming Emperor's Children. Still, the mortals took couple of seconds to regroup, the time it took Arnock to cross the distance and let the Legion's banner unfurl. Many of the human soldiers weren't born when this banner first appeared on the Terran soil, however this particular regiment hailed directly from the Homeworld and their honor records were ancient, so most of them knew exactly what they were looking at. Arnock felt this, the effect that it had obvious in the eyes of those that looked at it, and with this knowledge he went straight in the middle of the aliens, bringing the wrath of the Third Legion with him. First Ork died as the Standard Bearer sliced him from neck to groin, his sword similarly like Extrovious' blade doing its job perfectly. Second alien died as the return swing looped its head off and third one followed it as it tried to charge Arnock, only for it to be stabbed in the eye and left bleeding in the dirt. Greenskins however still didn't seem all that frightened by the opening and they pushed forward, fighting with each other in order to see who would get into melee first. Two more of them went for Arnock but they died as the Solar Auxilia soldiers gathered their wits and fired a salvo of las-rounds into the aliens, few dozen of those enough to even drop an Ork Boy (@matt23 you can kill 2 more Boys with your next post). While Extrovious and Arnock formed a front line, Elymas, Jendon and Vitaly readied themselves to provide support fire from the back and execute the Legion's battle protocols, however things turned sour pretty quickly thanks to one of their own. Librarian, or as he began to call himself, Audiomancer Elymas started with his song and attempted to bring one of the Iron Tenth's core beliefs into life. His staff flared to life but the tune was wrong, the powers he controlled suddenly let loose without any order or structure. Elymas could only watch in horror as the song twisted and buckled, its melody distorted in a way it regained much of its original composition but the message, and ultimately effect, were wrong. Both he, Jendon and Vitaly suddenly felt weaker in their armor, fatigued as if they just spent an entire month fighting nonstop aboard this battlestation, not just couple of minutes. Elymas of course felt this slightly earlier but there was no time to alert his brothers in time, nor could they actually do anything to combat this malaise. Vitaly was first to suffer the consequences as the grip on his gamma cannon grew weaker, his first shot only grazing the Killa Kan, while the second shot completely missed the intended target, the ray creating a fine hole in the nearby wall but that was about it. Both of these walkers now turned to face the attacker and the one with the rokkit launcha fired off its missile, blowing in the middle of Techmarine and Elymas, throwing both of them off their feet. Second Killa Kan lumbered forward and Vitaly rolled at the last possible second, evading being turned into paste while Elymas got hit by the whirling claw, scissor-like limb cutting through his elbow armor as if it was paper and nearly costing him an arm there as muscle and tissue were ripped apart. Thankfully the Techmarine managed to send the command to the Caestus Assault Ram just before all of this happened and if there was any silver lining in this, it would be the fact that their vessel's large gun fired up and in a split-second, sent a wave of super-heated air Dakkajet. If this was a void combat, this would most likely be an impossible shot to make due to the Greenskin airplane's maneuverability, however here it was the easiest thing to do. Both the Dakkajet and its pilot disappeared in a smoke of heat, leaving only a pile of slag metal where once the vehicle was. As for Jendon, he also had a hard time shooting at the Orks, only managing to snipe one of them who tried to flank Extrovious before his vision blurred, the effect of Elymas' spell playing tricks on his mind. This was enough for a trio of Shootas to catch his sight and open fire, showing what was definitely a surprising level of ranged discipline. Apothecary's chest was riddled with bolts, ceramite and flesh mixed and flying all around as he was forced out in the open and away from the now-ruined cover (@Vulpas you can kill 2 Shootas\Choppas with your next post). More serious injury was prevented as Martyn ran in front of him, soaking some of the fire before he got into melee combat and began using his new power sword, the gift from his old friend Nathaniel, the winged blade shining brightly as it cleaved through Ork flesh. "Focus brothers, don't underestimate the Greenskins or you will dishonor your Legion," Sidon grunted completely unaware of the effect the spell had on some members of his squad. Sergeant decided to take upon himself to deal with the Lootas who were just about to start firing on some of his brothers and opened fire instead, forcing one of the Orks to duck while blowing up an arm from the second. Beam of energy came his way and grazed his armor, burning away the squad markings but more importantly, making the Sergeant angrier than usual. However this anger was nothing similar as to what Pholax experienced during his time with the Eaters of Worlds. Bringing up his autocannon, the Devastator let loose his own hail of shells, thinking ahead at the possibility of more Greenskins joining the fray and trying to prevent one of the elevators from arriving on their floor. However such was the alien tech that no matter how many shots he scored on the strange machinery, the thing simply kept on going and soon Pholax ran out of time. "Look 'ova 'ere!" nobody was covering him and Pholax felt the large caliber rounds impacting his armor, the bolts hitting him in the shoulder and spinning him around as one of the Lootas squared off against him, bringing his own version of heavy bolter to the field. "I say, me gun iz much betta dan 'ourz tiny stik. Fer startas, it oin't loud enuff but oi'll be sure to giff it to big Mek Rumplez for modificatums!" While the alien talked, Pholax could see that the elevator he tried to stop finally arrive and a big mechanized monster exited it, looking similar like the armored cans attacking his brothers only significantly larger and sprouting additional pair of limbs. It stepped out of the elevator and began emitting loud noise, complete gibberish to Space Marines but seemingly making sense to the rest of the Greenskins, who cheered on. As it lumbered around it seemed surrounded by some toxic mist reeking out of its mechanical parts, but it didn't seem to bother the thing at all. "You 'umies woke up Da Green Ded, dat ain't be gud fer ya." This would definitely be for others to decide however for the time being, fighting continued as expected. This fact worked in Aleph's favor, as the Night Lords-trained legionary moved across the battlefield's flanks, picking out Orks with his bolt pistol which were too focused on the main battle. Couple of Boys with shootas and one with a melee weapon weren't even able to fire back as Aleph dispatched them professionally. However he did manage to draw attention of one of the Killa Kans, his plan working as the thing was driven away from the standard and the rest of his brothers as it moved to intercept him. "BURN UMIE! FER MORK!" its pilot screamed loud enough for even Aleph to hear him and a gout of flame came his way, enough for Aleph to know that the alien pretty much used the entire tank just for this attack. He felt as the structure beneath him give way for the promethium (or whatever passed as promethium in Ork culture) to turn it to cinders and the legionary fell on the ground, his armor's heat sensors going ballistic as his body was literally set ablaze. If he survived this, he will definitely need couple of extra skin grafts as the flesh beneath his armor began melting and fusing with ceramite. Arnock felt the rush of battle that he had longed for for some time now. Orks provided a few things that Arnock loved, one being a never ending supply of kills he could use to perfect his technique and two being an unpredictable chaos in which he could bring order to through death. Every kill was not some faceless death, but instead was a stroke of a paint brush, painting a glorious picture of death. Every kill was a step closer to perfection and through such views, all kills were valuable. Turning to look over his shoulder, Arnock noticed another charging xenos with a thirst for blood in his eyes. Turning and dropping his shoulder, Arnock lifted the Ork off the ground and onto it's back. Arnock then planted the pole of the standard straight through its eye, causing the Ork's body to go limp. He then quickly turned, swinging his power sword out wide at another Ork whom believed he had gone unnoticed, taking its head off clean from shoulders. Pull the standard's pole out of the Ork's eye socket, Arnock raised it up and continued to push the Solar Auxilia forward, "The xenos scum are no match for the sons of the Imperium! Give them no quarter and lose no ground!" Arnock then continued his push forward trying to thin the ranks of the Orks with crude melee weaponry using his power sword to attack and his voice to motivate. OOC: All out attack against Orks with Choppas with power sword.
Extrovious shakes off both gouging and bludgeoning like a champion born. Halberd's length is used to shove away his two aggressors, hands slide up closer to the killing edge of his weapon and Extrovious hews a head from one shoulder before shaving the second in half. A third Ork meets their end as the Emperor's Child falls back from the fight, the flames that erupt from his jump pack roast the greenskin alive. With a gaze that borders on murderous he flies toward Elymas. "Witch, break your curse. I shall cover you from the enemy. Fail this task and I will have your hands." Time among the Thousand Sons had done only so much to temper the warrior's views it seemed. Whatever confidence it might of instilled in Elymas was equally short lived, things had not merely reversed, but Extrovious looked and sounded even more venomous than their earliest forays into combat. Librarian nonetheless finds himself in the shadow of Extrovious whom plants boots down squarely between the Psyker and the Killa Kan. Limbs heavy the marine focuses instead on baiting and evading, keeping an eye on the nearby Vitaly as well- intent on keeping their Techmarine safe after the work he had already put in on keeping the tides even. @Uriel1339 @Jorimel Jendon nearly fell back as he fell to a knee ork rounds pumled his chest armor piercers, he thought, as felt weak as his muscles spasmed out and began to feel like he was losing strength. "Thanks martyn." Jendon said as he was saved from taking nearly worst damage, As he raised his bolter again he was assailed by orks, firing at blank range he fired in bursts mowing down a ork choppa with his bolter, as the next came to his hand quickly went to his chainsword stabbing it into the beast before revving it and sawing through the orkoid. "I will not be brought down that easily. Activiating his narthicanum, Jendon noted his brother's state he went to work spotting his own own vitals at the lowest and next to that was Elymas and Aelph putting his brothers first he went to work on them first before working on himself. "Brothers you may feel a rush from this." Jendon said as he went over to Elymas giving him an injection of regenerative, antibiotics, and an adrenaline injection behind it all to aid with his bodies healing functions. Going over to Aelph Jendon readied his narthicanum before noticing the flames. "Brother aid is coming hopefully we can save you from a fate similar to my own body," Jendon said he activated his narthicanum once more this time attempting to put out the flames out the flames then tend to Aelphs wounds." OOC one action healing Elymas, One action attempting to heal and put out Aelphs flames.
@Draconion | @Vulpas | @DeranVendar "Nothing changed. I'm still a weak and pathetic fool." Elymas growled in self-hatred, feeling the effects stronger than he would like to admit, and judging with quick glances he could also see that Extrovious, Vitaly and his dearest brother Jendon were affected by his fired-back enchantment. It seems that he was still nowhere near where he needed to be, and the Codicer exam would be unachievable at this rate. Such a simple spell against such a simple foe. He could not even blame the green tide. The Waaagh energies might be strong here. But not that strong. But his thoughts were thrown asunder when an explosion caught him, his body far too sluggish to evade or catch himself in any meaningful way. And when he found to his legs, it was accompanied by an agonizing scream of his arm being squeezed so hard that soon he indeed would be part Iron Hand. Alas, fate did not want him to lose the arm yet as a massive shot from the Caestus ram detonated the enemy flyer and rocked the battlefield enough for him to build some distance between himself and the Ork construction. His vision was blurry and focus thrown about, lacking any discipline as he struggled with the shock of his mishap and subsequently dishonor and mistrust he had brought into his squad. Expecting to meet death sooner rather than later, he was surprised to be brought back to realspace by the commanding and threatening voice of Extrovious. "I will pay for my shortcomings either way, brother." Elymas said in admission of his defeat, not daring to make an excuse. He was what he was and his mistakes had to be fixed. Just like a lack of craftsmanship had to be improved by the original creator of a blade. If the hundredth blade of a fine batch breaketh, then no matter how masterfully the other ninety-nine were made - it was a failure nonetheless. And depending on the situation it could make the difference of victory and defeat. The issue at hand was that Elymas was that hundredth blade. And as such, he would bring shame to Sidon and Leonis. His hands formed fists and he shook his head. The battle just started. The librarian could not allow himself to think like that, else the shadows might overwhelm him, those that stalk the twilight of his powers. "But for now. Let us eliminate these greenskins." A smile crept on his face and with a determined thump of his staff, he started to dispel his own doings. There was not much theatrics behind it except the intense glow of his staff and inaudible muttering within his helmet. Once his attempt was done, he found himself in the care of Jendon. Bracing for the sudden injection he grunted when the actual piercing into his flesh came. The body was still weak and frail, but nonetheless it started to get better. Even if his dispel did not work, at least the chemical reaction would counteract somewhat. "I will cover you, Brother Apothecary!" Elymas shouted when he saw hurrying for Aleph. Not wanting to let his closest brother fall to death as an easy prey - not as long as the librarian still drew breath. "Extrovious, you can join us or hold the line here, but it seems Aleph needs our aid as well!" The Codicer-to-be informed his temporary protector before rushing off alongside the Apothecary and keeping the enemies at bay to give him the space to do his art. OOC: Action 1 = Dispel attempt. Action 2 = Defend Jendon to allow him to help Aleph.
"Oh, for the love of...!" Vitaly's chagrined exclamation accompanies the sudden wave of fatigue that overwhelms him, causing the gamma cannon to sag in his grip and send his shots astray. Before he can pull himself together, an Ork warhead explodes right next to him, sending him sprawling, along with their errant Librarian. Hell of a time to pick for a psychic misfire! As he scrambles to rise, the elevator arrives in spite of Pholax's barrage, disgorging an ominous-looking Ork Dred. The combat multipliers are shifting in favour of the Greenskins, and the pressure is mounting on the Imperial side. Taking a mental snapshot of the field, Vitaly decides to forego the gamma cannon and instead employ the weapons least-dependent on physical strength till the psychic incident passes. Bracketing the rocket launcher-armed Kan and its flamethrower-equipped companion, he sends a micro-Krak warhead flitting towards each from his shoulder-mounted launcher. Laying crosshairs on the third Kan close-assaulting Squad 4's lines, he performs a mental flex. Icons blink in his noospheric display as his Potentia Coil drains, charging his Tezla-pattern Lightning Field capacitors to maximum in an instant. Hairs rise, metal components spark and mouths taste of ozone in Vitaly's vicinity as arcane Martian technology increases the potential difference between anbaric emitters and the chosen target in a narrow corridor, avoiding friendlies in their current positions. Scintillating corposant limning Vitaly's form, a thick, crackling bolt of lightning snaps forth from concealed emitters on the customised armour and earths itself in the Dred facing Extrovious, causing hazard readouts to jump and displays to glitch faintly in the wake of its passage. There was greenskin blood to be spilled and for a moment, Aleph got to spill it, climbing swiftly over the piled-up terrain and taking advantage of the distraction of the enemy to eliminate some of the threat to the troops below. He stalked quickly, wishing for a moment that he'd asked for a jump pack as his parting gift from his shadow-haunting Brothers. He dropped down a tier and, having got the desired attention he was looking for, made ready to lead the hulking machine back closer to the Caestus' guns. Totally unaware of the effect of the psyker's mishap and the resulting lack of firepower to take the damn' thing on. And, until a just half a second too late, unaware that the reverse was in no way true. Most of the scream was anger, but a part of it was most definitely pain. Aleph felt his armour's systems run far hotter than even Legion plate was designed to do. He tumbled the rest of the way to the floor blazing like a comet, the searing agony making him oblivious to the irony of his situation. Shakily, he sought to find a way to extinguish the flames but matters had gone beyond a simple stop, drop and roll. The drop part certainly hadn't helped things. Dimly, he could see Jendon sprinting towards him through the haze of pain, the armour too overloaded with firefighting to apply much of anything to help. By the time the Apothecary had reached him, Aleph was trying to sit, looking for a way to at least provide some covering firepower for his rescuer. It galled him deeply that he couldn't do more than wait like a damsel in need of a knightly saviour. At the moment, though, his body hurt much more than his pride. OOC: Defense on Jendon, defence on self if able to do anything that's not related to being on fire. Trying to assist in putting out said fire.
Pholax cursed and slapped an open hand against his helmet, he was a fool for focusing on the future when the present needed dealing, now he had two problems instead of one. Time to clear up these problems. His armour was still intact and he was going to make that Ork pay dearly for scratching his armour. The scars and wounds would be masked with Xeno blood. Raising his autocannon and fired a volley in return at the Loota who dared fire up him. After his rounds were fired, Pholax began to advance, chainaxe in hand, he needed to get more enemies focused on him to ignore the battle over there. Whoever this Green Dead Xeno was, it was Pholax's responsibility to end it as he allowed it to arrive. OOC: Attack on the Loota and defensive advance towards the Da Green Ded
Arnock pushed onward with banner in hand, straight into the biggest knot of Greenskins, carving another two of them with wide swings of his power sword. One more came but he too was killed as the mighty weapon cleaved the alien in two, however Arnock became aware of the fact he was suddenly alone, the other Assault brother leaving him to move back and deal with whatever their psyker unleashed. While this didn't mean he was helpless, even a skilled swordsman can be taken out if surrounded from all sides by a bunch of angry aliens. A bolt glanced the side of his helmet and Arnock was momentarily dazed, enough for one of the Greenskins to ram an axe in his hip, going through the power armor and hitting the fused bones behind it. Legionary glimpsed another axe coming from above and he moved just in time to avoid his head being split in half, instead the blade hit his shoulder and cleaved it in half. Brought to his knees, Arnock suddenly felt the grip on the pole slipping as the Greenskin tried to remove the choppa from his body, damaging nerves alongside it. Horrible thing to even imagine, but the banner wasn't about to be dropped today as Arnock's face was splattered with gore, the Ork's head exploding as an orange energy ray hit it dead on, turning it into a globe of bone and meat. Another Greenskin assaulting him fell as well as his heart was pierced by an ornamented golden sword, looking similarly like something taken from the Emperor's Children armory. It belonged to one of the Solar Auxilia troopers, a female with a look of a killer in her eyes, who then proceeded to chop another alien to pieces as he tried to bring his shoota onto Arnock once again. Couple of more solders surrounded him now, opening fire on the Orks and giving him room to get back on his feet. "Ave Imperator and honor to the Third Legion!" the woman saluted as Arnock was secured, even though the banner swayed in his grip a bit she made no attempt to help him hold it or help him get back up, "Cohort-Captain Tiberia of the II Saturyne Rams at your service. Any additional orders except purge them all?" she asked with a glimmer of amusement in her tone. While Arnock and the Rams formed a decisive firing line that kept the remaining Greenskin infantry busy, Extrovious flew back to help Elymas fix the damage he had done. One of the Lootas carrying the beam deffgun fires off before the Assault marine could get there and the Audiomancer finds himself hit once again, this time however a new hole appears below his secondary heart, the weapon melting armor and flesh with ease. Staggered, he was held in place by Jendon who dashed to his side and injected a dose of adrenaline and battle stimulants to help his metabolism speed up. Suddenly invigorated as the wounds began clothing, Elymas manages to focus his thoughts on restoring the tune to its original sound. Phoenix's Resolve began glowing with soothing light as if the staff itself understood psyker's frustration and tried to calm him down. It works as the malaise surrounding the Emperor's Children disappears as if it never existed, preventing any more issues (@Uriel1339 you can emote killing one of the (BG) Lootas with your next post). Ork Loota starts charging his weapon for another shot but he finds himself in the way of Elymas, who alongside Jendon hurried towards where Aleph was located. Greenskin gets swept away and two brothers arrive just in time to see Aleph getting stabbed by the Killa Kan's claw-like limb, the walker's pilot following his drop and coming in to finish the job. Chest was pierced and the claw rolled inside as the Legionary was pinned to the ground, the alien contraption looming over as it tried to eviscerate him and separate his body in couple of unequal pieces. Not for long however as the Apothecary charged from behind, putting couple of bolts into Killa Kan's back to get its attention. It worked and the walker turned around swinging, however Jendon dashed below it and got to Aleph, punching the Narthecium in his neck while simultaneously applying cooling balms to his armor that saw to the flames. Elymas was there as well, preventing Killa Kan from doing anything other than trying to defend itself from psyker, who kept the thing busy while the Apothecary worked his magic (@Vulpas you can emote killing (Scorcha) Killa Kan with your next post). Back where Extrovious was standing, another Loota fired on him but as the Legionary made way towards Vitaly, he withered those shots like a true bulwark, the rounds either exploding around him or hitting his shoulder pad but other than couple of shards the Assault brother remained relatively intact as his armor held. And good, because he now had to worry about two remaining Killa Kans who seemed to be wanting to claim their heads for themselves. Vitaly was currently embattled with both of them, launching couple of missiles towards the one in the back while also trying to electrocute the one attacking him directly. His systems registered couple of hits on the walker before he had to worry about the one in front of him, which swung its melee weapon at him once again. Somewhat sluggish as the effect of Elymas' spell was just wearing off, the Techmarine calculated the best trajectory to evade the attack but found his systems working slower than needed. Claw came but before it could remove a limb from his body, power khopesh swooped in and intercepted the attack, Extrovious barging forward and slammed the pommel of his weapon into the machine, the thing actually stopping dead in its tracks. It wasn't something that could last of course but then Vitaly was given the chance to do what was needed and lightning sparked from Techmarine's capacitors and into the Killa Kan, which was suddenly put aflame, the Legionary could swear he heard the pilot inside of it screaming (@Draconion you can emote killing (BS) Killa Kan with your next post). Another rocket came his way however but once again Extrovious stepped forward and smacked the projectile away from them with the side of his large blade, whether it was faulty Ork tech or something else the missile bounced off and hit the wall besides them where it exploded and created another hole in the wall, adding a bit more flair to the Greenskin architecture. "BLASTED UMIEEE!" Loota that tried to taunt Pholax turned to be more of a talker than a fighter, the Emperor's Children Devastator completely annihilated him as he fired his autocannon, the explosive shells quite effective against patchwork armor the Greenskin wore. With the enemy dead, he stepped forward, bravely facing the huge Deff Dread alone as the mechanical monster understood the challenge and moved straight at him. Salvo of grenades were fired from the thing but Pholax was faster, leaving the explosions behind him, but not fast enough to dodge the set of scissor-like claws bearing down on him. Chainaxe raised, it did little to block the attack and he was slammed into the wall outside of the elevator, the sheer force of the Ork walker not to be denied this day as it manifested right on Pholax, who was nearly broken in half by the impact. Bleeding and battered, the Devastator saw one of the Dread's weapons heating, thing looking similarly like a Legion's melta gun only made to fit Ork needs. Split-second before it fired Pholax was pushed aside as Sidon barreled in, taking the brunt of the damage on himself and most likely saving his life. Everything went white for a moment and as his helmet realigned the lenses, Pholax saw that his Sergeant still stood in the aftermath of the blast, however the entire left side of his body's power armor was melted and fused together while his arm alongside the gilded bolter was missing. "I'll keep it occupied. Pholax, advance from the rear and try to hinder its movement. Martyn, proceed with the plan," Sidon's voice was strained but he was unbent, the good arm still clutching the eagle-headed power mace as if daring the Da Green Ded to try and attack him again. Martyn on the other hand, simply sent an affirmative click and Pholax could see his brother slamming his shiny sword through one of the Lootas that stood in his way before reaching the incoming elevator and setting a krak grenade on its controls. He jumped away and moments later, the grenade went off, destroying the mechanism and sending the elevator and its inhabitants plummeting down straight towards wherever they came from. 4 Boys with Choppas, 4 Boys with shootas, 4(BG)/5/4 Lootas, 6(RL) Killa Kans, [14] (toxic grenade launcher + custom mega blasta + 2 poisoned claws) Da Green Ded Solar Auxilia:13 Aleph:10 Vitaly:12 Elymas:10 Jendon:11 Arnock:11 Extrovious:13 Martyn:13 Pholax:9 Sidon:12 Flesh is Weak is dispelled.
