Im PRO, let people make squads of what there faction fluff goes with, IE Space marines are usually 5/10man teams, if people cant have pugging against groups of people, then they should find a group to join, this COD 8v8 insta que with a bunch of nub pugs has IMO killed "FRIENDING" or making friends to then never play with them again cause the game dose not support group play. ALSO, letting people play together as a group WILL help keep the game going long past its due date, look at WOW, nothing about that games power creep/story has really changed over the years they just steal other MMO games ideas that work for them, IMO its lasted as long as it has cause people want to play with there friends and WOW can do this for all ages(relatively well) If I wanted another Lobby shooter with no friend making no server control, id just go back to COD...in a world as large as 40k it makes no sense to not let people play with their friends and make guilds(3rd-7th founded chapters)and make the game there own, by letting people identify it as their character, their guild, their friends, you can increase the replay ability of any game. So in closing if some one cant handle a group of friends playing against PUGS, I guarantee the game will succeed by allowing large groups vs pug only matches....and if people cant handle that, there are plenty of other matches they can go and join I'm sure... one player with no friends has little to no impact on this game vs 5 friends in a group with 1000s of friend/s between them, all being pressured into playing.
No, having large groups vs Pugs will kill a game. It's not fun for Pug players, they will quit and become frustrated. It's not fun for the Group players because they will never have challenges and get bored and also quit. This is a teambased game, it's true, but they're still going to need to be at least a LITTLE sensitive if there's going to be some sort of Matchmaking for closed instanced battles with player caps putting large parties against Pugs.
I can respect that point of view, but me personally I love destroying groups/clans of people as a solo, and IMO any one that wants to b!tch about a "group" being op or not fair, may also not have the skill level to win most matches any how and if they may rage quit cause they loose a bunch anyhow. I can agree it may happen sooner rather then later if they see large groups, BUT nothing is stopping them from trying to find a group of friends to play with, if they have no friends then that's on them to change something about there life, NOT cater to them in a game, it takes friends to pressure there friends into playing.
It's a team game. Don't have to be in a group to work as a team. Just need to communicate. Hell I take that back! You don't even have to communicate to work as a team. Someone running to a point, go with, cover them, get their back. Don't just look for foes, look out for friends. Play your class as intended, healers should be behind the main thrust, rezing and offering cover fire as you move up, HBs should be suppressing to allow the team to advance, Tacs protect your Jumpers, Jumpers take out the enemy Heavy's first. If you respawn, wait for at least one other team member so you can get each others back. Or a least go spawn Rhino, cos that's smart. It's better if you communicate, even in the chat but it's simple stuff even if you don't want to talk, just be a team player and you'll be playing as a team. Or Join one of the groups and stop thinking you can take Arkhona on your own. Or Keep lone wolfing. I ain't gonna judge. Just expect to get your balls handed to you. The victories will be sweet but they'll be few and far between.
Here's where you are wrong... Yes people will quit, but it's the people that like getting free wins and hate earning things from hard work that will leave. If they don't want to get better at coordinating with their team mates, they can go pay $100 on a Facebook game to get their fix in.
Another like me. Thank goodness I thought I was going crazy. How rewarding is it, going into a room solo, taking out 5+ people and capping the point solo, feels amazing, and good. My good sir, your avatar is suiting to your personality. (best complement in the best way possible) I would follow that commander any day in battle !!!!
I don't know why everyone automatically assumes solo players want some easy wins etc etc. or that a game can survive without casual players. They can't. We've lost enough good MMO's to know that catering to the hardcore crowd doesn't work. WAR, Wildstar come to mind as games I loved playing but ultimately died because the populations died from crappy handling of things. Pugs vs Groups is a real issue that games need to be aware of at all times. It's also a community issue that needs to be addressed by the community. Don't be jerks to the solo players, solo players don't give up immediately etc.
I'd say we should start a solo clan to combat the guilds but then we have a paradox of not being solo anymore. I don't deal with Paradoxes, only Heretics.
Sure sure, that's why in my opening statement I said I was PRO fluff based groups sizes, its supported by the fluff, makes the 40k universe feel more like 40k. A group of 10 space marines in the current build is a lot to large sure, but with the world opening up they can start with 5man teams and then later expand that to 10 for matches of 32v32-50v50, with less impact to the PUG solo player. From playing nearly 1000 hours of playing BF4 on OpLocker as part of the =rTr= IMO, people come for the experience, I used BF4 as an example cause nearly every one is placed into a 5man team, if they work together they can do great things, nothing is different from that then just joining a group with your friends and playing together. Some people will always make excuses why they loose, "terrible team", "hackers", "Grouped", what have you. It all comes down to, are you/we the player/s willing to try to overcome the draw backs of your team/cheats/grouped players, all to gain a victory, cause I can tell every one right now, that gaining a victory over any of the named challenges, is definitely a experience I play games for.
I am making a "strike force". This will be 10 players who only have each other on steam. I will be maining Eldar, but other factions as well. I want my strike force to be for hire, death dealing squad. We will also be working with major guilds and factions to help aid what ever cause they wish. Being said, Our goal is to straight murder all Mon-Keigh, in the most effective, coordinated, and mix/max means possible. My group (Bonzi Kitty Gaming) has a silent partener and 1 sponsor. As soon as the website is up, recruiting / invites will be sent out. If you are not the highest skill set person, I know a few people who can train for a small (in game) fee, with extended background in gaming. Strike Force is going to be brutal (We are thinking about the name WarpParty too)
