After playing over 2k hours of ps2 I gotta say 60% of the time was wasted just trying to find fights. 30% of the time I was having a blast and 10% of the time I hated the game due to how imbalanced that battle turned. If EC can pull off keeping it fairly balanced and make it easy to find action I don't care what kinda system they use for the maps as long as it's battles of 64+ players on areas large enough for multiple tanks and stuff.

This. This is a large issue with PS2, new players would find it far easier to get into the game if platoons were easier to get into and were well led. The controls currently available to platoon and squad leaders discourage this, they are limiting and mics are almost mandatory for explaining what the waypoints and smokes are signalling, otherwise your just pointing at the map and hoping they understand what you mean.

Squad play will be (or ought to be) a large part of EC, but they need to provide squad leaders with tools that make leading easy and enjoyable. It should be something that they'd want to do and requires less effort than cat herding. Squads should be almost mandatory, for lore reasons, for strategic reasons, and because it's usually the most enjoyable part of games like this.

  3. Yeah, everytime it (randomly?) joined me into a platoon (it was nowhere explained how to find one), it was just a bonus for additional spawnpoints and maybe some Bonus xp for randomly being near someone else?... Thats atleast the new player experience.
