Orks - Second impressions

ork axes are best melee weapons in game, over any other melee choices, which make both sluggas and stormboyz viable. Lootas with plasmas are as good as autocannon, which is better then "standart" heavy bolter level.

Shootas have broken dbash and less them meh shooting options, vehicles are worse then SMs, which make them the worst in game.

Painboyz is lesser apothecary, due to no both melee and ranged attack options.

Overall orks are fine and viable

Forego consumables, pick LP armor and the toughness/10% dmg reduction wargear and you'll perform even better.

Sluggas are amazing in melee, they'll be monsters with shields and klaw as an option.

Hey, OP of the original thread here. I asked asheru to lock the original thread, because I wanted to have first impressions only. The freshest ones.
The thread was running for 24 hours since orks were implemented. I planned (as I wrote there http://forum.eternalcrusade.com/threads/orks-first-impressions.55840/) to open a new thread in a week where we would discuss second impressions. The point was to give people a week to play and form a better picture of the orks :)

Orks are fun to play against. The reasons why they don't win is because I don't see their guilds. In fact I see very little coordination at all so most of the time I've fought them it's been PuG stomping.

Example: Got into a real firefight between A and B on Pegasus. Truly awesome levels of Dakka from both sides and the only reason we won the fight was because of coordination. They had way more firepower than we did though. It's pretty awesome to see.
  5. Wait are you asking for Less DAKKA... Ok you are hereby banned from playing Orks ever again. I will get the dev team to disable it from your account. LESS DAKKA... Good lord man you might as well be asking the poor Ork to use the Kings English in a proper speech. You have sullied the name of good Orks everywhere. I would sleep with one eye open if I were you.

Going to have to agree with @Katitof and @Demetri_Dominov on the lack of coordination between Ork players. Short of fighting very clear guild groups it felt like a lot of matches against Orks were feeding themselves to our kill counters.

When I played Orks I'm just going to agree with what others have said here. Shootas are a bit wonky, Sluggas are nice with axes, Lootas don't really have any bad points atm, and I never really had a problem playing Stormboy, worked just like a JPA or Raptor. Painboy I'm still trying to get my 5k achieve with...Just feels weird playing them. I can't quite put my finger on why though.

Camera needs to be adjusted significantly for all Orks and the muzzle flash is awesome to look at but yeah not too efficient to use while shooting unfortunately QQ

I think an Ork camera fix will help, right now it seems kinda cramped up against them even when "zooming in".

Amazing. They're expecting Ork guilds (Most of which have given up on EC, sadly) to instantly be informed and coordinated, populated, and skilled in ork weapons after almost 2 years of idle waiting. And with the sub par equipment and health, they're saying that the orkz's problems lay with the players themselves. That is very amazing. You know there's a certain point when the gamer knows that the team is not going to win and they goof off. Please don't mistake that for incompetence.

I went on to my Space marine alt earlier today and Holy Gork on a Stick, the Orkz are terribly easy to fight. I can see why everyone wants to get into a match with the orkz. They're literally as easy to fight as the NPC orkz in the game Space Marine at the lightest difficulty. It sort of made me sad because a whole lot of ork players were trying their damnedest to fight well but from the other perspective it was just apparently a fruitless endeavor.

The devs have a lot of work ahead of them with that faction.

    Meh,

The Orks certainly have issues, and I can speak from experience that I know what it's like to wait for your faction while having to play others. But no. The Ork guilds are not dead - at least not all of them. They are among the most resilient out of all the player bases represented. - there's two threads over several hundred pages long that they've filled by themselves....

They just aren't on atm.. because... it's Monday? /shrug

That being said, the average non guild affiliated Ork player right now is pretty much doing exactly like you described for the guilds. This is a tactical game, and the Ork players are still trying to figure out their tactics - or they just plain suck - which I wouldn't leave off the table either. As other threads have pointed out, PuGs can be more of a liability to even themselves than anything else. They require a different playstyle as do the Eldar, and while both factions came into the game UP, a lot of performance is still based on playing a class correctly - and a lot of what I've seen is just really bad play from Orks - so it's hard to judge.

Very rarely do I say "oh, this Ork outplayed me, fair enough." *grumble*

More often than not, it's, "Why the hell is this guy walking past me?" *Shuriken Tinkle*, *Disbelieving Laughter*

    or

"Oh look, half a dozen boys running up a firing lane.... good thing I've got my Shuriken Cannon ready..."

    *Adds 6 to killfeed*, *snicker*
