ORKS: Overall Balance vs Fluff vs Playability

I'm saying nobz should be the default classes. I'm totally with you that it's within the realm of believability that a bunch of especially tough nobz might pose a challenge for space marines. Still a bit off because, yes, according to the fluff space marines are virtually unrivaled 1v1 in the universe, but it's a step in the right direction.

No they shouldn't, cause ork boyz themselves are strong and resilient enough creatures, physically they're practically as strong as space marines. Being controlled by human player they become the force to be reckoned with since they use tactics far more often than lore orks.

They're nowhere close to as strong or resilient as space marines. Ork boyz are comparable to space marines in strength without power armor, but power armor is called as such because it has servos and shit which enhance the wearer's strength. Space marines are considerably stronger than orks as a result. And again, while space marines and ork boyz are about as tough while naked, power armor is incredibly resilient and makes space marines far and away harder to kill than ork boyz.

And even ignoring the physical advantage marines have, they're supposed to be ungodly skilled marksmen/fighters, whereas ork boyz just spray bullets and swing their choppas like mad, all brute force and no technique. There's really no comparing marines to boyz.

You have to also note, that this is a game. Ork players represent around 3-4 Ork boyz all together at once, unless you fancy seeing a game where there's 30 Orks playing against 10 marines.

If they did actually say this, it's an obvious "yeah so we took a dump on the fluff, just pretend like we didn't!"

    DEAL WITH IT

They need to fix the doors. hitboxes would be enlarged obviously, it'd work fine. this universe is meant for large things stomping around

Oh please, stop this fanboism. Read the orkdex, read some ork fluff. SM need power armor to enhance their strength, ok, but ork boy doesn't need "servos and shit" to cut marine in this armor in half with a brute choppa. Their strength is almost equal. Orks don't need power armor to use jetpacks, to carry deffgunz, to wear 'ard armour that consists mostly of randomly combined metal bits.
Couple of bolter shells to the chest - that's enough to kill sm in power armor lorewise. Same goes for orks.
And space marines actually ARE ungodly skilled warriors, moreover, they use tactics and strategy. THAT is why orks need hundreds of boyz to kill 10 marines in battle. Not because of power armor and shit.

Yeah I'm interested how they plan to fit terminators, wraithuards and meganobs if they're gonna leave the terrain as it is. What, we'll just come to a doorway, stare at the header rail and give up on entering the room?

Ofc not, they'll fit Nobz in very nicely as veteran ork units, with time. Balancing them is another issue, I would go for default +100hp, 30 toughness and +10% melee and ranged damage (weapon models should be appropriately bigger), in addition to and before applying iron gob and other wargear effects. They'll be massive targets, at least 50% easier to hit from all distances and so will be victims of substantially larger dps. Their hitbox size doesn't matter in melee but meh, in lore Nobz are represented as something you don't want to be fistfighting, which will go in favor of assymetrical balance (weakness to ranged weapons compared to other veterans, better melee ability).

EDIT - ooh oooh OOOOH I got and idea I got an idea! An alternative to refitting all doorways on the maps. You know how you have animations for jumping over rails or bracing heavy weapons? Your press SPACE and you character starts a climb-sidesit-jumpdown animation, or you press MMB/CTRL to start a bracing animation.
What if... WHAT IIIIFFF.... they created special animations for nobs, meganobs, terminators and wraithguards which they have to trigger in prescripted locations in front of doorways? A "Press E to enter doorway" as a "Press E to enter vehicle" equivalent. THEN! Then... then they start an epic animation of bowing their heads a bit, rotating their torso to the side, bending their knees and doing a "TROOOOOLL IN THE DUNGEON / They have a cave troll" scene where they badassedly do a 2 second entering animation. And they're in the room, no static terrain adjustments needed, just adding new animations. Thoughts? :D
