I'd like to see them get away from the "looted" concept and go with proper Ork ingenuity. I get an overall lackluster feel from most of the Ork weapons I've seen to date. T The new "free items" Founders will get, the Ork spiked knuckles and pistol look meek in comparison to the SM, CSM and Eldar equivalents. Again, they don't have the proper outrageously over sized look and feel you'd expect with Ork gear. In fact in the models the Ork spiked knuckles and pistol are smaller in comparison to the items for the other 3 races. The knuckles look like a basic Ork fist with a few teeny tiny spikes jutting out from the knuckes, spikes are pretty much standard for adorning Ork equipment. In comparison the the blades from the other 3 races, the spikey fist is absolutely underwhealming. Something much more monstrous and menacing would be appropriate, a beefy forearm mounted blade that can be "extended" and used for melee or "fired" like a projectile.
Its sure is disappointing lol. Lota the stuff is heavy on the Space marine in terms of its art direction, nothing really "Orky" no power klaw, no custum choppa, chain choppa. just some knuckle dusters and a blade Other than a change in Mesh, you really cant tell most the heresy weapons apart.
I don't mind the fist weapon concept, but the artwork.... like I said looks like basic ork armor from Warhammer FAntasy or 40K. I would expect to see something a bit larger and more menacing. The swords for the other 3 factions look impressive, while the Ork fist weapon is so very bland looking. Perhaps just a place holder for the actual model that will stand out much more than your average Ork gauntlet with a few spikes sticking out of it.
I would frikk'n love a mini klaw. That would make it worth it. Even if the weapon sucked in game, I would be mini-klawing people everywhere. In the meantime, to make up for the artwork, we should get the Ork emote imported from dakkadakka.
I love the way behavior is taking orks actually. I may be the only one but the ork weapons and equipment don't scream over powered which is a good thing. I'm sure the team will get more creative as we move on. Everything in the store is the first wave after all and we had no say in it but I have faith in the team. And by the way I don't need flashy items to squish umies.
You're not wrong. And, as I've said in many other places, EC is one of the few things that I've ever been truly optimistic about. I just think that so far the stuff they've released in the store is rather uninspired, is all.
Yeah I understand. This is the first ever true 40k game so I don't blame anyone for being worried about its future. I really hope this game does well and I believe it is in good hands I'm just going to wait to see more releases for orks before I decide if it lacks luster.
