Orks don't get Meltas

Orks are the only race in the game that don't have access to the melta gun/multi-melta. As it stands, nothing kills a tank faster than melta weapons and the three other factions can each get a class set up with a melta gun + melta bomb combo and destroy a tank before anyone realizes he was there.

I feel this puts Orks at a disadvantage when trying to deal with the vehicles of the other races.

What alternative could the orks get to help even the odds?

I like the idea of Squig Bombs or Tankhammers from the table top ork codicies.

Squig Bomb: A Squig (orkish pet/creature) strapped with explosives that runs to an enemy tank like a little living homing missile.

Tankhammer: A rokkit on a stick, swung like a hammer.

Leaving aside how much effort should go into killing vehicles and the short end of the stikkbomb orks got in that department...

I'm still disappointed that tankbustas got rolled into regular boyz. They're my favourite part of the orks, and while I'm sure most of the orks community is happy their tankhunter can also cap (oh eldar) I always envisioned tankbustas to be so preoccupied with the hunt for metal bawkses that they ignore the objectives. I wanted them to be kitted out like devastators, not tacticals. Maybe as an elite class someday...

But yeah, tankhammas make the most sense I think. A giant windup that keeps it from being a good infantry weapon (like the ol' power klaw) but the damage to actually break tanks fast. Squig bombs are what the super stikkbomb bundle is now but cuter, so it'd be only a marginal change for tankhunting. The ability to make your meltabomb run into a room however has some serious implications for assaulting cap points though.

We need something to deal with wave serpants tbh. Close range rokkit and klaw don't work. You can never get to a position with a loota since some form of eldar melee will chase your ass for an entire match if they ever see you. Atm map design and spawn points pretty much cause orks to be unable to do certain things in the game against enemies that know what ork limitations are.

Our weaknesses are to easy to exploit in this game. Oh and the melta bomb can't stick to vehicles so yeah thats fun...

I can make my melta bombs stick but it's finicky. I have to "aim" up to get the hologram of the bomb somewhere on the tank. and even then if im right up next to the tank that I can't walk any further it will still somehow just get thrown on the ground.

There's a weird sweet spot for Eldar vehicles too that I have to be in otherwise the melta bomb will just fall short and underneath it.

Imho, giving orks a melta-bombs pack, so they can carry 2 melta grenades (same cost as FD, 360), will be an easy fix.

As funny as tankhammers sound we have power klaws that do that job just fine.

We just need rokkits to do some actual damage to vehicles. I'd rather rokkit launchas do jack shit to infantry and wreck vehicles then the way we have it now.

If you'd played Dawn of War 2 the Tankbustas were awesome! They shot 3 rokkits at a time. I'd like to see a special or elite version of that for this game, like maybe through the store or something. Seeing 3 rokkits twisting through the air would be really fun. I wouldn't even care if they were accurate as long as at least 1 of them hit where I was aiming.

As for the Tankhammer, I would really REALLY like to see this in the game. It's probably the most orky thing I can imagine. Orks like hitting things and explosions so why not combine the two!? BRILLIANT! Throw caution to the wind and tackle each problem with reckless abandon! (probably literally since, Orks)

If we were to get Squig Bombs I was thinking maybe a "smart" bomb type deal.

Imagine this: Ork places Squig on the ground and lights the fuse. Squig briefly sniffs the air for a nearby tank and once it catches whiff of it's target, it scurries off straight for the enemy!

Maybe give the squig a small amount of health so it can be taken out by a cautious enemy or something.

These are probably just pipe dreams but I think that at least of these would really help orks in an area that they need it.

    But...power klaws don't explode!

    Joking aside you're probably right.

As for the rokkits, like I said in an earlier post, I would like to see a special version of the rokkit launcher that shoots multiple rokkits at once.

maybe we should get some 'oming rokkitz. rokkitz that lock on to vehicles but doesn't on infantry. Have the rokkitz match the dps of a melta perhaps?
