I think it would be better the other way around. If an Ork holds the trigger the gun should indeed shoot faster and faster, but also become more accurate as long as the Ork keeps shooting. Titanfall has an LMG in the game which works the same way, and to my surprise it actually works pretty wel while still maintaining the characteristic of an 'innacurate' gun. This way they will still be more inaccurate then the other races but after keeping on the dakka they in the end still can be just as effective as you would expect them to be. I think this could work out pretty well.
this would be super orky but would it be fun to only spray and pray all day? I think it needs more depth @ HAXTC ya that is a great idea I had the same idea on the "ork shooting issue" thread
Cool, I havent seen that. I think this could be the most effective and lore friendly way to go. With some adjustments ofcourse.
I think people have to think beyond "Inaccurate as hell". No offence, but that just won't cut it I imagine. Lets look at some stats again - An Ork Shoota is a S 4, AP 6 18'' Assault 2 weapon, which, to those of you who don't play the TT, means that the weapon is about as powerful as a SM Bolter, shorter ranged but shooting faster and, strangely, more balanced to fire on the run. An Ork has a BS of 2, which means that he isnt a terrible shot but not by any means accurate. It is two points below a SM (who is elite marksmen), and one point below Imperial Guardsmen (who are welltrained shots). The Orks know they can't hit the broad side of a barn, so they design their weapons to accommodate this problem - By shooting fairly quickly and doing so in great groups, catching the enemies in great storms of lead. So yeah, inaccuracy is nice, but don't go overboard. If you want something wildy inaccurate, I would opt for a Big Shoota, which is basically an Ork-sized M2 - The standard Shoota is inaccurate, but not to any extreme amount. A medium-large targeting reticule would suffice (around shotgun-sized), but then have it balanced with almost no instability. Still just my two cents though - I generally think the TT is the best way to stat weapons and characters, because the books and codexes might be a bit too coloured towards one particular faction.
Umm... I would like to point out that if your playing as a massive green skinned hulk of muscle... You may just want to melee... But still, for those of you who actually want to shoot at your opponents, namely me (If I give you the chance...), then you better hope that you can actually hit them before they reach you... Cuz I'm gunna bring the hammer down on a lot of heads.
Yeah, Orks are big brutes who love combat, but not just that - They love noise, recoil, speed and looks just as much as caving skulls in. I know I want to play as a shooty Ork with a penchant for chopping as well. But, as you state, lets face it - Melee is a thing that will happen in this game, regardless of class and race. Of what we have seen until now, close quarter fighting seems natural and fast, so professional tag-and-bag shooting will qucikly desolve into good ol' beating face.
ok, lets bring the more shinning ideas back: 1 - "DAKKA DAKKA DAKKA", the things that feed you do part of it On the previously topic, this skill was bringed up: 1a - "anarchy" Code: http://borderlands.wikia.com/wiki/Anarchy_(skill) 2a - Hyperion style. "You are suggesting borderlands 2 hyperion guns. Nobody uses hyperion." Code: http://borderlands.wikia.com/wiki/Hyperion My opinion: 'Anarchy' idea or something similar seens good to me. making the fluff and the game walk together. 'Hyperion style' its good, but we have the easy effect of exploit. We can find something better. 2 - Supression; "A suppressed area just means if you go out there you will be hit by a bullet." "The mechanic in BF3 is quite good, your accuracy decreases and the screen distorts, although that makes little sense from a 3rd person perspective. So no, it's not just the risk of being shot from suppression." "That's not a bad idea. Slow movement, poor accuracy unless you're in cover? Something like that?" My opinion: supression looks good to me, been part of DAKKA. Accuracy decrease, Screen distorts and the shaken screen effects seens promising. 3 - no reticles "I like the no reticule idea for orks and a high RoF and decent recoil should make sure orkz can't really aim" My opinion: worth a try, it is a good idea for fluff. But need a fine tuning to be good with the objective of the EC.
