Hello everyone! I was thinking while reading this mmorpg article about orks http://www.mmorpg.com/gamelist.cfm/game/954/feature/8753/All-Things-Orky.html/page/1 While reading I thought that wouldnt it be awesome if everytime you spawn with a generic weapon, e.g. a choppa or a shoota, it randomises the parts like the barrel, stock, blade or handle. I know that this could be tricky to implement with collision models and etc but it would emphasise the randomness of orks! I dont think this should apply to cosmetic or unique items otherwise why would you buy it! Thanks for reading
If its something as small as randomizing the bitz attached to your gun, I don't think that will require modifying the collision detection at all since the collider would be attached to the whole of the model. Also thinking, if everyone had the generic "ramshackle" slugga, or shoota, that you're proposing, then what would be the point of getting all the cool cosmetic customizations that are going to be available? Everyone would simply have this weapon since it randomizes the cosmetics on each spawn.
I would imagine that the cosmetic items would be for specific weapon looks you cannot get with weapon randomization, or for side-grades that are actually different weapons. If they wanted to make a chainaxe choppa a cosmetic item, you wouldn't be able to get it with your randomly spawned choppas. Or maybe some cosmetic items also have a variety of random spawn-states, like said chainaxe.
