I'm guessing the strike force structure for each faction will be similar. So I'm guessing one warboss/strike force, and a council of warbosses. Really large waaaghs have a dynamic character leading them, usually with some honorrific. The Tyrant....or Overfiend of Octavius
So, in a game with 4 factions, 3 of the factions should be ruled by a player council and the F2P race should get 1 player controlled Warboss? No. Unless there is going to be a Chapter master/Demon Prince/Greater Demon/W.e the Eldar equivalent would be that is the Master and commander for that faction, PURELY for faction balance*, which I highly Doubt will happen, the Ork Warboss will have to be a Raid like NPC boss fight, which is exactly what it should be, imo. I mean honestly, if there was a CHANCE to become an Ork Warboss, how many people would buy the game if you can become Warboss through F2P, or even play other factions? Just my .02cents
You know that f2p boyz can't progress up the command tree, right? That's the whole idea of paying to play as the Ork faction.
I actually wasn't aware of that. So yeah, you buy the game, and only play the Ork faction on the chance to become the Warboss? I just don't see 1 player being the entire factions leader, that's all. NPC? Sure. Player controlled? My magic 8-ball says, L2Balance.
If there's a warboss in this game, it HAS to be player controlled. Even if it's only so i can kill the bugger and take his head for the chapter.
Each race is unique and different, which is part of what makes 40k great to me. Let the orks have their warboss, let the space marines and eldar have their democracy, let the heretics do whatever it is that they do, and let behavior worry about overall faction balance. I do agree that the Warboss should be a paid player, and not a f2p random, but I also believe that the Warboss should be brutally hard to kill, as that would be true to the tabletop. Not to mention it would give the f2p guys a hero to rally around, and really get the WAAAGH! going. People on the other teams will learn how to deal with the warboss (every race in 40k has strengths and weaknesses after all), and as long as the orks dont steamroll their way to victory every campaign there wont be a problem with it. To sum up my feelings about this game, I want it to stand out from everything else out there, especially mmo's with cookie cutter factions and reskinned skill trees. From what I have read from behavior, mainly how they plan to balance and from all the tabletop gaming they say they do, I have faith that they will make this game stand out from the crowd.
Player controlled. Probably the leadership structures going to be similar if not identical in every faction, so we may see several Warbosses.
From what the Developers have alluded to, the Ork Warboss would be a person who is faction elected. Odd to think that the Ork's have a democracy (not entirely fitting with the lore), but that's how it's rumoured to work. More appropriately, Orks should have a duel system. If you want to be Warboss you have to fight for it. U WONT TO SEE WHOOZE BIGGEST AN' STRONGEST? U BETTA HAV MORE DAKKA AND CHOPPA, CUZ' I'M GONNA STOMP YA HED IN, YA GIT.
Isn't there always a bigger ork behind the corner? So even if you would be a warboss then there would be a bigger boss for you in the game anyways so personaly I think players should be able to play warboss as long as npc controls the biggest boss of them all.
