Ork Waagh Mechanic

A game called Red Orchestra 2 has an interesting mechanic to at times make melee weapons viable even when under heavy fire. I think this mechanic could extend very well to Eternal Crusade, more specifically the Orks.

The basics of it is that, when a large group of players all hold down their melee key (Holding their melee key to prepare their bayonet, in that game. perhaps just passive when Orks hold their choppas in this one.) they group up, and this can be represented by a small multiplier in the bottom right.

This is how much more health they have and they deal much more damage in melee, they also are a lot faster, it can stack up to 5 times depending how many people are nearby (6 - 40 people) and this allows them to charge MG nests and still have a few people alive to kill the ones inside with melee, i feel like this could be a very effective mechanic for the Orks to allow them to feel like the brutal horde that they are, making the regular Ork somewhat weak but allowing him to group up with others to the point of where they need to be focused on or they will break through the lines and will cause havoc.

Perhaps it could be restricted that it only happens when a Nob is with them, allowing all the Boyz near him to move faster, deal more damage and take less damage but the buff is lost once the Nob dies.

I'd like to hear some thoughts on this, I've been thinking that this is almost a perfect mechanic for the Ork faction to make the lone Ork weak, but make them very strong in a large blob of Orks.

I even posted on the same analogy to RO2 myself here.

Seems like a promising concept, you start charging with a melee attack readied firing your pistol in the air and in the general area of your opponents and it triggers a stance change and a buff to damage on hit, if enough Orks do so with you. Very fluffy, and if orks is a f2p thing and boyz are throwaway fodder then it seems like a very cool way to give people a pretty thematic experience.

Sounds like a fun concept to try to implement, hopefully its feasible in their designs.
