The attachment was an accident at the end, for some reason I couldn't prevent it from re-uploading. Some type of glitch on the forum.
Tau (kroots aside) are poor at melee. It would make sense for the Ork Sniper to win. Even if he gets in a melee he should still have some melee power because he's a big Ork. Ranged combat, though, is an entirely different story for the Ork against a Tau.
They're also heavily cannibalistic and prone to bursts of rage. While they're strong enough to go toe to toe with an Ork or Astartes, they lack the martial prowess of a prolonged melee duel which is typically why they lose in 1v1 s but they also typically have the advantage of numbers so....yeah...
I'd say the average Ork Boy and the average Kroot are roughly on par, with the Kroot having a distinct advantage when it comes to mobility and the Ork being more resilient against physical injury. Also, I doubt the thing about the Kroot's strength in numbers, at least when fighting Orkz. You don't outnumber Orkz. The only grace saving their avian asses when they fight an Ork Horde would be that the Orkz are to busy with them as if that they could engage the Tau Firewarriors behind them in melee.
I thought the reference above was against Astartes, if it's versus Orks well then all the Tau have to do is wait for the Orks to walk into one of their artillery zones and GG Even the Imperium was getting raped by their massive ranged railgun artillery strikes
The only thing the Imperium was getting its ass kicked by was Hive Fleet Behemoth sticking its ugly head into the galactic disc and saying "OH HAI GUYZ". The Tau Empire would not even exist anymore if the Nids wouldn't have decided to show up.
Yeah, they did get saved by that but in most land battles where the planetary battlefields were open ground, Imperium battle groups would take horrendous casualties before they even closed in. Tau artillery spotters can land up pin point strikes capable of wiping an entire armored squadron in one go.
