Ork Nobz

  1. So have a little extremely premature discussion, shall we? :D

An Ork Nob is in many ways an Ork Veteran, much like the Stern/Vanguard, Chosen and Exarchs, but I think it might be tough to implement them. First of all, a Nob is pretty damn large, which will make them more of a target, and not only that, but their added size means that they aren't just veterans like the other factions' veterans, but are actually a wholly different size and model.

In my head, the Nob should be the toughest and strongest of the direct veteran upgrades. Where a Space Marine Sternguard is a better shot, is more skilled in general and has better equipment, the Nob wouldn't be much different from an Ork Boy in skill, but rather be a good bunch stronger, maybe having 75% more standard Melee damage and Health, half to compensate for the size of the bloody thing.

Additionally, as an added boon to Orks, I'd love it if Team Leaders automatically got upgraded to Nobz regardless of whatever, simply because a mob's strength is just as tied up to the Nob as it is the Boyz, and because it's pretty darn fluffy.

    What do you feel like?
  2. I'll gladly take being a gigantic, bigger and far more threatening target, as long as we get the increased survivability and hardiness to back up the increase in size. If Nobs can tank damage due to being so damn tough then the increased size would be an extra intimidation factor. At the end of Ork leveling, if I don't make a space marine crap his power pants by charging at him and wildly flailing my Choppa/Chain Axe at him, then there's an issue.

If I didn't want to get shot at I would have played Eldar

I feel like the faction in general behaves very differently than all the other factions and shouldn't be compared. If you try to compare an ork boy to a space marine, it just doesn't match, but if you take a space marine and compare it to, say, an Eldar warrior, it's easier to see similarities. An ork Nob is no better at combat than an ork boy, it's just bigger, greener, and tougher. I don't see a problem with making the Nob large, tanky, and downright fierce in close combat considering the rank and file nob can rip the arms off a space marine power armor and all, it's only natural we survive longer than your average space marine by leaps and bounds.

Just looking at what THQ did with the Ork nob, those things pretty much wrecked anything they got close too, and they took a beating, with almost 5x the hp of the other squads from the other races.

I agree with everyone else here so far . Nobs should be big,bad , and tough as all hell . But like previously stated they are a much larger target giving ranged characters a chance. Id like to point out nobs can shoot too ( so far only melee has been talked about ) and they can even bring ammo runts so im thinking allow them to carry bigger guns and still be mobile and a higher ammo capacity base along with a ammo runt perk ( just put a grot on their back holding a bullet box since AI pets are bad ideas )
  5. I dunno, would a Big Shoota be too much for a Nob to use?

I always wondered why Nobz don't get those instead of Shootas.
  6. It dependz on the size of the Nob

You could have Nobs that are no bigger then space marines

And then Nobs that are twice their height and more.
  7. That would be a Boss Nob I think, and regular Boyz are shown to use Big Shootas.
  8. Well even in Space Marine

They had the heavy armored Nobz that ran up to whack you to death

And they had the Rokkit Nobz that blasted you from afar.

Both were nearly twice the space marines height
  9. They were, like, a feet or two higher, the way I remember them, though it's been some time since I played that game. I think the armoured Nobz where just wearing 'Ard Armour, and I do remember the Shoota Nobs having both a Shoota and a Rokkit Launcha.

I love Nobz. The epitome of Might make Right.
  10. The funniest part

Nob means something really different in Britain

Let's just say calling a bunch of Nobs a bunch of dicks is just an accurate statement
