I think this is awesome because everyone knows how overpopulated the space marines would get and as he said to get a true green tide of orks
They won't have the ability to be war councillors. Possibly they won't be able to make guilds, etc. Also, it might take a very long while to gind the XP needed to get on par with folks like myself who are paying. Let me be blunt: unless BE do things to make the otherbthree factions really appealing this game is going to be The Battle of Maccragge Redux aka Space Marines Versus Tyranids. With occasional token resistance by the Chaos Marines.
I think it's great news! That was actually one of my bigger concerns: that f2waaagh boyz would feel neglected and intentionally abused because they hadn't yet opted to put money down for the game. I feel like that's a huge mistake on a fundamental level, because if you're looking to allow people to play for free so that they can decide if they like the game, the more bullshit mechanics they perceive to be in place to punish them for not just straight-out buying the game, the less likely the are to actually buy the game and stick around. This sort of sentiment is exactly the line of reasoning that I feel would really rankle the f2p crowd and steer folks away in the long run. (For the record, I'm not calling anyone out, I'm just using a provided statement to illustrate my point. Please don't take it as hostile or anything, because that's not at all how it's intended.)
I think this is a great idea. If someone spends 6months playing a f2p ork boy, playing seriously or casually, and earns points to upgrade their ork that is fine with me. It helps with player retention, rewards continuous players, and provides some faction balance.
I like the idea but I plan on spending alot of money on this game just for the orks. I really hope that premium orks have a special place in eternal crusade just because I would like to stand out in a crowd of people that might not care for this game as much as I do.
F2P orks are only boyz. Other classes you can use only when bought the game. BUT even F2P boyz can develop their ingame skills, open new abilities. So this class is fully open for game. But it is not universal of course, so there will not be many styles of gameplay. To try others you just have to buy game.
It's no different from paying the premium. They're just paying with time and effort in place of currency.
