Ork Class Discussion / Speculation And Comparison

    Each race will have four classes; that's been confirmed. Hoping for a Pain Boy to be one of the four seems unlikely because we see our four classes in that artwork; just like space marines.

    That's a very real possibly; they've mentioned Hero Classes being unlockable. So given that, Mek could be the first tier of support and as you've said; you could "Unlock" being a Pain boy or Weird boy given what progression path you choose.

    What would the other (We'll say roles for now), unlock? I've throw some more speculation into the mix.

    Support: Mek > PainBoy > Weirdboy

    Looks legit to me. You can either stay in the first tier and fix up vehicles and become a "Big Mek" or branch out to support other Orks with healing via Painboy or support their offensive and defense stats ala' Weirdboy

    Fast Attack: Stormboy > Kommando > Biker Nob?

    I've used fast attack because I don't really know what else to call it. Either way, this role will be based around getting into combat one way or another quickly or fighting in a particular manner. Kommando seems logical; unlocking stealth and cunning tactics for Orks. Meanwhile Biker Nobs would also fit because rather than fly through the air they would just blitz lines guns blazing.

    'Eavy Support: Mega Nob > ?

    I'm not sure where to go with this one; being a Mega Nob is pretty much to the top tier of Nobs. Maybe they could offer a lighter option akin to the Nob Squad from DoW 2. (Big Hammers or axes, REAL Killy)

    Dakka Support: Loota > Burna > Flashgit

    While typing another role it hit me what the two for "Dakka Support" could be. Being a Loota would be a medium range option, Burna for up close, and a Flashgit for moderately long range.

    Burnas in Dakka support? Ya gitz don't remeba' dey can use dis burnas like a can opener? (Power weapon AP 3 in close combat) Anyway... i hope dere iz chance for stompin' as 'ARD BOY. Iz finking more about good old band of mob, ya know, as a "common soldier" doze blood axes git somethimez call da boyz in dat way.

  5. runtherds would have squigs and gretchins they could use as thrown weapons or just give them orders

    Don't know if Runtherds would be particularly dangerous. Squigs aren't a threat unless they're exploding, and gretchin are just sort of there to be shot dead. Unless you're IG.

    That's why they are under "Dakka Support" they support the other Boyz via Dakka, or their case, Burna. They offer a different play style within the Dakka support to fight along side the assault classes, although less durable, but still provide that needed umph when needed.

    Perhaps Tank-busta for Flash Gitz - Then you may have your exploding squigs; Loota's taking long range, Tank-Busta for Mid, and Burna for melee. Pick your target and set the squig loose, now that would be a blast to watch. (Pun unintended.)

    Just droppin' in and saying that the classes you see in the artkwork are not final.
    Those classes will -propably- be represented, but I think Brent or some other Developer said that the artkwork classes are not "all the classes available" (please correct me if I'm wrong.)

    I'm taking that artwork at face value; I heard there was only four classes at least at the start of the game.

    As always this thread is open for speculation.

    There are four chapters/clans/aspect paths/warbands, and four factions, but not just four classes.
