Ordo Xenos: The Darkest Night

  1. Lanius stood by as the scientists observed Varuuk and the weapons he had brought with them, he of course did notice some pointing at him and red occasionally. "If you have any questions feel free to ask them, you are here to learn after all." He said to the clearly curious people. They were amazed at the might of the machine and the Imperium of Man, this was a good start. These people have been ignorant of the Omnissiah's word for too long and it was high time they are taught it. He could actually say he was a bit excited about this.

Frederick had kept quiet after his interjection deciding instead to board the APC and join the delegation to the apparent headquarters of the local government or military. He looked worried, he had kept his eyes closed this entire time but his movements had been far better than what a blind man would be capable of without a guide, his psychic sense capable of that much as he followed the mental trail of both the retinue members and the guard.

'The history of Tyran is more than you know, any logs left here by Lord Kryptman would only be the start of a long and documented archive of the first Tyrannic war and of the career of Inquisitor Kryptman himself, the history of the Tyranid hive fleets are an issue that has threatened the entire galaxy over the last few centuries. If I may have the chance and the threat of the potential Xenos invasion is held off for now I would like the pleasure of loaning a transcript of this conflict, it may be more enlightening as to the full scope of this intergalactic concern.'

He had decided to openly talk about the history of the Tyrannic wars, he was leaning on his force stave now as he listened to the commander when he had finished himself. He frowned with closed eyes as he heard the creature in the stasis pod mentioned.

'However, it makes little sense why a hive fleet might return to a world they have already consumed. When a world is lost to a hive fleet its surface isn't just stripped clean, its molten core is removed and the world becomes little more than a rock in space without any electromagnetic field, maybe this colony had found it like that. But why would a Tyranid hive fleet return if there was not something drawing it back, like this creature in your stasis pod?'

Alnar had made himself inconspicuous. Sitting silently in one corner waiting for a chance to slip again. Their hate for Eldar might speak of the Corsair presence here.
He couldn't just blindly sneak away again, he had no idea where to go to find his kin. So he stuck around a while longer to gather more information, a vehicle would be good too. If the Tyranids attack that would give him a good window to escape. Despite the hate he had for humans, he didn't like the thought of these people to fall victim to the swarm.
What the hell was that Catachan doing earlier, stepping in between him and the locals. He was supposed to hate these people not feel for them. There certainly was a lot more to despise than to be fond of with humans during his slave life experience.

Red nodded being a guide "If any of you have questions or need me to guide anywhere you may ask me or as Lanius said himself to answer questions or guide you to area of request, if it is not restricted." Red said the crusader noded his weapons had been seethed only his shield out as he carried it.

"Yes...this creature is possibly the beacon that is calling the Tyranids back to this world. If so, then as long as it lives you all are in grave danger," Gansukh said, rising up from the chair to his full height. "You weren't able to kill it because most likely, you didn't have the necessary tools to execute such creatures. We on the other hand, might just possess the weapon to slay it."

"I want to see the camera feeds that you mentioned and afterwards, you will lead me to its prison so I can assess the threat myself. Also, what do you mean we created it? What is this data you're pointing out exactly?" now it was Stormseer's turn to become suspicious as he never before heard of any faction withing the Imperium having the technology and knowledge to create an alien lifeform, yet alone such supposedly powerful Tyranid organism.

Seymour shrugged in the gaze of the Tyrannic Wars. "Considering it seems your Imperium under this 'God' Emperor has conquered every other star of this galaxy, it seems our realm is limited to this planet. Which in contrary means that the greater galactic conflict is... Irrelevant to us at this point. We have heard threats of assimilating us and such into your empire without regard of our existing culture, technology or even desire. So what you deal with, seems to be your problem." He replied to Fredericks concerns.

"But feel free to share your knowledge of the conflicts with the Great Devourer, and in return we will let you have whatever information we possess."

Then again the Stormseer was addressed. "The swarm has no eyes on us, if it wanted the creature. They would have taken it when they first came to this world, no?" A very uncertain hypothesis of the ruler, but he leaned back with a hand on his chin to think.

"What was the projects name? Archangel... No... Preda... No..." He would have a few more attempts before the armed woman would lean down and whisper into Seymours ear.

"Ah yes!" He snipped his fingers. "I even said it earlier! It was the Primarch Project. And the logs even reference that a world this close to the borders of the galaxy was a requirement, due to potential interruption of the project where more life forms existed. But it is very unclear of whether this 'Hive Primarch' was created here, or if it was transported here in the stasis capsule it currently is within."

Then the screens behind him turned into one big screen together, forming a huge picture which was of a brightly illuminated room with a single stasis capsule on the inside. There were two dozen men and women guarding or inspecting the stasis capsule. It was a static image.

"Whoever of you who cannot take severe violence, gore or simply cannot see the slightest drop of blood or endure people scream in nothing but agony. I suggest you to turn away. The total duration of the various footages have been compiled into this twenty-four minute video. Don't tell me I haven't warned you." Seymour said and then the video started playing. Everyone of these Francs turned away from the screens and their mental resolute could be easily seen with the faces they made.

The Inquisitorial retinue which would decide to watch would first see nothing special, just the people going on about their duties. Then the two closest to the stasis capsule would look around in confusion. "Did you hear that?" One of the women asked.

The guards around all turned to her and shook their heads. Then she would put a hand to her head. "There... There is something... Like a..." Before she could finish her words she would start screaming out of nowhere, filling the room with panic.

"We need a medic right now." One of the guards yelled through the vox-box like device, hurrying to the side of the woman. But she would not be helped, instead digging her fingers right into his eye sockets, ripping both eyeballs out and then squashing them. Leaving the man blind and in pain as he fell onto the ground. The other guards pulled their weapons and shot the woman. But the other person who was at the stasis capsule grabbed the rifle of the fallen soldier and started shooting too.

Suddenly everyone was shooting everyone, and the wounded ones would crawl to one another and stab either with a combat knife, choke the other to death or even slam their head over and over into the other one until not just the adversary but even continuing until they themselves died. When the medics arrived they only found corpses, they were so terrified they would not even put a foot in the room and instead just throw up.

The video ends there and then goes to a similar scene. The room was well lit, but this time there were only two people in the room, armed guards, right next to the entrance door. "What do you think is in there?" One asked the other.

"Judging from what I heard from the rumors... Some sort of mind controlling alien-thing-a-majig." The second one shrugged.

"I give you fifty bucks if you go and check it out." The first one dared the second.

"Are you nuts? I'm not going to do that!"

"Sounds like someone is a chicken."

    "Hundred and I'll do it."

    "Done!"

And so the second one nodded and gulped, obviously in fear as he slowly walked up to the stasis capsule. It took him good three minutes, neither one said anything. Even the first guard now could be seen gulping in fear and sweating a bit. The man who made it to the stasis capsule put his hand on there to wipe the condensation away to face the terrifying creature. But the moment he put a hand on there, suddenly it was like water in that instance and the guard was pulled in slowly.

The other guard rushed in and tried to pull him out. But instead he got stuck too, and both disappeared on the inside of the stasis capsule leaving not a trace of them behind.

The video fast-forwards for a good while until it goes back into normal playback and the replacement guards for the new shift came in. Just then the screens of the briefing room went complete dark for a moment. And a shadowed face appeared on the screen, only the rough outlines visible before a very deep, ominous but authoritative voice spoke.

"I feel your presence, psykers." The voice started, Seymour suddenly jerking up and turning around to face the screen only to fall over. The guards half of them rushed out of the room, the others readying their weapons and even abandoning the position around the Eldar to protect their leader. Seymours bodyguard drew her weapons as well.

"Finally someone who cannot only free me of this prison... But appreciate my existence. I'm a rightful son of the Emperor... Sent on a death oath... Yet I survived against the odds... Come to me... Let me rejoin the glorious Imperium. For the Great Crusade needs me..." And the silhouette would disappear along with the monitors returning to the regular playback where the two guards would look for the first watch which disappeared.

"T-t-t-that.... H-h-h-how!?" Seymour could only stutter, shuddering in fear as one of the soldiers held him to give him physical and mental support through direct body contact. But it helped little as the soldiers were shaken too, in the background the video continuing.

Both Frederick and Gansukh would feel the strong presence, far more powerful than either one of them. But they would unable to tell what it was. But one thing was for sure. The Great Crusade is over 10,000 years old. Is this creature that old? Did it truly serve the Imperium? There was only one way to find out.

"This thing." Leonard-Pierre started, poking at the black carapace of Varuuk. "What does this do? And... What is it? It appears to be some sort of additional plating. Maybe to support the sturdier frame of your mutant? Or maybe it is a replacement after suffering severe injuries? But then these plug-like wires and such wouldn't make much sense." He pointed at the interface-slit where the carapace would link to the power armor.

Red in the meanwhile would be approached by a smaller, younger scientist. "Apologies if this may seem rude or such. But." She pointed at the sword and shield of his, but also gave a nod towards the chainsword in the room. "Isn't it a bit well... Foolish to carry sword and shield? After all, everyone has projectile weapons. You would be long dead by the time you get to use these, no? My current hypothesis is, is that you play more of a ceremonial than a combat role?" She asked, natural big eyes growing even bigger in curiosity.

Red looked down to the women neither annoyed or surprised, "Well Everyone does have projectiles and often times using when facing those who use range and reach over melee and short range it can put one at risk, Though often times we have come into situations where using shields and swords become useful or xeno threats that rely on numbers and brute force, Such as the Tyranids, or Orks or have to fight in a environment of extreme close quarters like a space hulk" Red said explaining why melee was still in use,

"Along with that my shield and armor, I use not only for my self but those I have to protect such as those I have been sworn to protect or ordered to. My shield being reinforced and upgraded can take quite a packing even with standing most auto, and even las rounds, though Plasma has damaged my shield in the past. and likely if put infront of a melta will likely leave a hole in it and me. Often time the materials in such armors, and even weapons can make even most weaponry that would be used by a feudal worlder could be turned even dangerous that it could pierce even cut into or damage some vehicle armor, Such as power axe or power fist, Or even the storm shields that are not only large slabs of cermite but have a power field that from what I have once seen even take some types of heavy weapon fire." Red said before motioning to Varrick,

"While I maybe trained to use both my hammer and shield for protecting and keeping away foes that manage to get through lines or mange to get up and close and attack those I protect, The Astartes, can use a melee weapon greater then likely of my crusader house , A combination of there strength, and speed, as they can fight even faster then anyone I have ever seen, all gifted to them by them by the emporer himself along with there own combat style with there jump packs there able to make use of melee then likely any one of humans in the imperium, often time soaring down and creating havoc with simply only a Chainsword or bolt pistol." Red said looking to the science doing the best he could to explain why the imperiums Chain weaponry and many melee and more midevil weapons were still in use. He looked to answer the scientists question as best he could and to hopefully enlighten her to some of the imperiums ways, maybe he cold start here before explaining faith? a thought ame to his mind,

Laeris watched the human ‘scientists’ asking questions about everything they were seeing. He knew that mon’keigh were foolish but..this. He listened to one ask why you would use combat weapons when others have projectiles and he couldn’t hold back a laugh. “These vermin asking their, questions truly highlights that there is no better place for them than the arenas.” He said just loud enough to hear, before laughing again and watching the mon’keigh.

Frederick was about to say something about what he heard on the footage before the presence appeared on the screen, Cooper almost recoiled as he sensed the enormous psychic potential filling the room. There was that involuntary twitch again as the figure spoke loud enough to command authority in the room yet still felt like it was also in his head, a bead of sweat ran down Frederick's brow as he raised his hand to soothe some stress in his forehead. After the silhouette had faded Frederick reached out for the space marine @Colapse to gesture for attention, resisting the urge to turn his head as he spoke.

'Lord Gansukh this may be beyond our ability to handle, if we examine this creature ourselves we must decide if we are to confront it here or to inform the Inquisitorial party. Our retinue is divided, the Deathwatch is likely otherwise incapacitated with ongoing screenings and these colonists obviously do not have the means to pose anything more than a minimal risk to this alien if what I heard on this footage is as dire as I believe.'

Gansukh was visibly shaken by the sudden arrival of the outsider psyker however no White Scar was ever taken offguard by such hasty tactics. Returning his thoughts inside and barging his mind like an impregnable fortress, the Stormseer locked his strength inside in order to defend himself from a possible onslaught.

    @Donairian
"Before we do anything, let us examine the facts sir Cooper," Gansukh said as he concentrated on the human psyker, trying to see if he was suffering any sort of breach.

"We both saw the stasis capsule and the world in flames. We also saw that once I tried to see what is inside, we were attacked by nothing less than the Hive Mind itself, or at least that is what I believe it was. These humans speak of Primarch Project which has nothing to do with the Tyranids and yet, we know for certain that their pressence casts a long shadow over this place," the Stormseer mused, walking left and right as he spoke the words, ignoring the native humans or anyone else for that matter except Frederick.

"I belive the Hive Mind is trying to deceive us while these humans are telling the truth. They found the logs but we know the Tyranids don't leave anything behind, unless they wanted someone to find it. You have heard of the Genestealers brood, yes? Perfect inflitrators, a host of alien organism looking completely benign, when in truth, a darkness looms beyond the soft skin?"

"Tyranids left the logs here as a decoy alongside one of such creature to act like a long lost Primarch. How they found out one exists is irrelevant as it could be from a number of sources, but they knew that offering such prize would be impossible to ignore for the Imperium or the Inquisiton. What is another thing that we know about the Tyranids? They adapt. And so, after meeting Kryptman and loosing to him, they adapted by trying to play our own game," it was a far fetched plan, but not impossible. Gansukh was sure of it.

"They left the logs, the creature that was a puppet and had a decent and believable story for us to find and bring back into the Imperium, for that is what the orders will be if we are to report this back. For how could anyone ignore such news, the risk while being great was nothing when a possiblity of finding a lost Primarch looms in front of us. That is what the Hive Mind counted on. However I don't think it counted on these strangers to come here first with their broken arc, but the Hive Mind once again adapted and left the prize open for us to snatch, like a lure in the pond. This is what we must prevent from happening."

Turning back towards la Fontaine, the White Scar tumped his fingers against the wooden staff, the skull of the avian creature on top of it rattling in unison. "If you haven't heard me first two times, now you will for I will not repeat this again. You and your people are in grave danger, the thing lurking below is no friend of yours and if it can manifest out here, it's only a matter of time before it starts appearing inside minds of your people even up here. There will be no future for you on this planet, only death and madness. This place must be destroyed and you evacuated. I know this is difficult for you to accept but this foe is beyond you and you must retreat if you are to survive."

"Do you have any operational ships? There are other planets that you can colonize that have better neighbours and where you can actually prosper. Think on this sir la Fontaine, but think fast."
