Ordo Xenos: The Darkest Night

Discussion in 'Role Playing' started by Uriel1339, Sep 2, 2017.

  1. Lanius felt relief in that he could be brought back to the ship and not have to deal with the blunders of the station's security. Not to mention that things did not erupt into violence and while normal humans were easy enough to dispatch some variants of xenos were difficult and space marines downright grueling even with a group of competent individuals. Not impossible on his own but that was only if he were facing one of them, while he could not match them in strength he could seek the advantage with his intellect. To him most astartes were simple brutes who relied on their Omnissiah given augmentations to crush their foes underfoot. While such a mindset worked perfectly well on worthless xenos and heretics it would not work when they face an opponent of superior mind. Though in some cases these astartes boasted their own superior minds as well, their officers and brothers they send to the Mechanicus for training are certainly worthy of respect.

"A Minotaur who actually cares about the Ultramarines quick resolution." Marcella said more in surprise than accusation. "And here I thought the stories told of how you usually obstruct them with intention." She shrugged it slightly off.

Yuri chimed in with their wisdom. "Luckily you two are overthinking it. We are about to be well on our way, considering resupplies have been completed. There are billions of issues in the Imperium and even the ones we might create, are not ours to fix. Remember the state we left Klahrheit II after the Tau incursion? We are not here to repair situations. We are here to eliminate the threats from without." They stated without room for question through sheer determination.

'Farewell Lazlo, I wish the approval of the immortal Emperor to show upon your endeavors.'

As he went the Primaris psyker had graciously wished the Ultramarine captain goodbye with a bow just as he left the observation area and began his trek back alone to the Librarium. Once he had returned he found Iovita warmly welcoming him back, this friendly gesture troubled Frederick's resolve and it showed on his face slightly, but his purpose was clear, just like how he had accepted this role to earn respite from endless war so he must rejoin it lest his sentimentality turn to weakness. This might have been the second time he had to make such a momentous decision in his career, to head back into the war that he had originally come here to avoid. Frederick swallowed deeply as he announced his intentions and politely requested his desire for the blessing of the Ultramarines in his upcoming petition to the Ordo Xenos.

'I have come to make a request, during my time here I have had time to meditate and escape the endless conflict that besmirches our galaxy, but Iovita I think it is time for me to leave. It has been something that has been on my mind for a little time now, but just a short time ago captain Lazlo suggested that I attempt to join the retinue of the Deathwatch Inquisitor passing through this station, rather than return to the Astra Militarum. After serving with you for all this time, I humbly request a letter of recommendation be drafted so that I may present it to the inquisitorial party.'

"Farewell Captain. May the Avenging Son's will illuminate your way, always," Gansukh bowed and fell in line with the squad of the Ultramarines. True, he was being "handled" almost like some kind of a criminal, but he didn't mind it. It was simple protocol and warriors of the old "thirteenth legion" were famed for their adherence to it and the work laid down by their primarch in the Codex Astartes. White Scars on the other hand could be perhaps considered to be the exact opposite, their adherence to the tome many (if not all) residents of Ultramar held sacred was loose, the teachings of their own Khagan overruling everything other warlords, kings and masters declared as a law, save what the Emperor himself deemed as his own decree.

In any event, the Stormseer was glad to remain on the move and away from this ship. He had to meet the Inquisitor and the Deathwatch Captain that will be his commanding officer sooner rather than later. Finally, there was the matter with the Eldar who called himself Alnar. Due to the way both he, the Ultramarine and the trio of Inquisitor's servants welcomed him, the White Scar was almost completely certain that this alien was behind whatever happened that caused the alarm to ring. Ironically, Gansukh himself was the cause of the Xenos surviving this encounter with the security, but then again who knew what would've happened if he didn't accidently stumble upon the sleek creature before all of this. As a Stormseer, a man trained in the old arts of Chogorian warrior-shamans, he knew that there was no such thing as a coincidence.

Smiling to himself, he kept on walking with his head raised. This will indeed be an interesting journey.

Feltheria did not look happy upon hearing that the Inquisitors were evidently (to her) trying to push events under the rug for the sake of saving face, as her tentacle-esque limbs folded in disgust. Even in the light of being told that others were already involved in the situation, and so in her view it was too late to just try ignoring the situation.... Even if they did have a point about not every scenario needing to be solved by them.

She sighed in resignation and merely walked away from the Inquisitors, pointedly grumbling "A ignored problem is a problem festering, and casts poor light upon those that watch." The Starlen then made her way towards her personal quarters, with more than a few questions to consider.

Alnar had a slight sigh of relief but he was still tense, surrounded by these intimidating warriors with a slave collar on his neck did not ease his mind.
He walked a while in silence before he glanced at Gansukh.
"...Thank you..." He muttered, the White Scar could have made it really bad for the Corsair. It was actually surprising it hadn't gone so badly. Mon-keigh were ugly and crude creatures but were still worthy of recognition on some level.

"Exactly, bounce some iron pellets off him, though we stand just like before, to make them think we are over comfident in our surperior martial prowness" Tyr answered, then shortly after the light when green and the announcing of the next fight would begin.
As they strode out, Tyr picked a position alot like the one before, and kept focused his hunters eye on the ultramarine, while tensing his body up for a new violent burst of speed, though really his focus was on the human, analyzing posture and all that while still trying to keep the air of violent savage about him

"That's a dangerous position for me to take using a longrifle, but perhaps that's exactly what'll be needed." Longfang said with a small smirk as they walked along, soon enough reaching the arena once more. There came a quick scan with his eyes in an attempt to see if anything had changed, regarding the terrain or features, and then he looked at the human that was across from him. "Longfang." came the simple reply from the Catachani, whose hands twitched a little once more. He readied himself for the start to come, to react to their moves while attempting to enact their own strategy.

"Farewell Captain, and there needs to be no thanks as it is our duties." Red said nodding then bowing to the captain he would join Lanius in heading back to the ship with the others aiming to do get back to the ship and possibly begin digesting what happened today.

Among all the things the thing he found odd or suspicious. Red was at least glad that everything went right within this simple shore deployment.

    ~~ Librarium - Codicer Librarian Iovita ~~
@Donairian - Frederick Cooper, Human (M) Primaris Psyker

"The Inquisition?!" Iovita exploded, slamming his fist on the massive table before him. In an anger that Frederick has never seen from the calm and collected librarian. His eyes twinkled with the warp, something that the Primaris knew only too well from first-hand experiences. It was like a shadow looming over him, ready to consume both of the psykers.

There was an intense stare coming from the elderly Ultramarine before he took a deep breath and drew back the invisible darkness, retracting it back into his own form. "The Inquisition..." He sat down on one of the chairs. "All except those that know me assume I might simply be older than Calgar and Tigurius combined." He said with a soft smile, yet it was at the verge of turning into a frown.

"I'm not much older than a hundred-and-fifty, Frederick." He did not look up to the psyker, shame overcoming him. "My chapter allowed me this position instead of casting me out or letting me rot or such, in order to make use of me. I just completed my Codicer exams and sent as an attachment to a Deathwatch Kill-Team to help them analyze scriptures in the hunt for an alien. We walked straight into a trap and before I realized it I stood opposite of a Hrud. My body aging at a speed you have no comprehension for. Only my youth saved me to some degree as the Blood Angel before my eyes turned into very dust. A hero of his chapter who has seen three centuries of battle... We only survived because the Sergeant decided to throw his power axe into the alien and killed it on the spot. And to this day I still owe the Iron Hand, and I do not even know his name anymore. Supposedly he rose to the ranks of a Watch Captain." He nodded in contemplation and sighed then again, looking at his hands that were unprotected with the lack of power gloves. Frail, naked hands of an old man.

"I'm little more than a serf in truth, due to the Inquisition, Frederick. You might look for honor. For wrath. For glory. Maybe you truly wish to aid humanity on a grander scale. Alas. There is little more than servitude for me left. I shall draft your letter. But heed my warning. The Inquisition is after their own goals and agendas. And they will complete them, no matter the sacrifice required." His eyes turned grey and dim, filled with sadness and regret.

"I wish you the best and wish the Emperor's Light to guide you." Iovita said as a servo skull gave him a piece of paper and an Ultramarine wax stamp. The Ultramarine used a quill and ink to draft up the letter. After almost the entire page was filled, written with patience and thought, he let the ink dry for a moment before folding the letter, putting it in an envelope. Apply the wax and seal it with the stamp before writing an addressee on there. He grabbed the envelope and offered it to the young psyker.

The Inquisitors reserved their comments and let the two leave. Shortly after the door closed behind the Astartes and the Alien, the trio convened once more.

The majority of the Inquisitions members made it back. The cobalt colored giants would simply wait outside the hangar hallways until the Ordo Xenos vessel would take it's leave. The interesting thing about once the four made it back on the actual vessel, or respectively Felthernia and Gorepararn finished their session with the inquisitors, a lot of the crew members were staring at their data-slates or various other monitors that seemed to broadcast some sort of event. The individual group members would notice a few armsmen running past. "I want to see the fight too!", they must have been hurrying to see the event as well.

If one of the Ordo Xenos agents was to glance or even just pay attention of what was going on, it seemed that someone hacked into the systems of the Shipyard in order to watch the security pict-recording within the barracks of the stationed Ultramarines. And it looked like Tyr Nosebreaker of the Space Wolves and Denton 'Longfang' Reach of the Catachan Jungle Fighters were standing off against Learchus Abantes, Captain of the Ultramarines and Phyrrus Atraxus, which some members might have met previously.

Many if not all knew that such interceptions and intrusions were unlawful. But then they also were the inquisition. It could raise tensions with the Ultramarines if they discovered such act against them. At the same time, the crew seemed quite hyped to see their champions make it to the final round of the Ultramarines training sparring tournament. Or, the agents also could just act like they knew of nothing and retreat into more reclusive corners, such as their own rooms or the training deck.

@Grall_Stonefist - Tyr Nosebreaker, Space Wolf (SM) Grey Hunter

The Space Wolf and the Catachan were in their element when they fought. Their strategies they schemed before each battle paying off. What in the first round seemed like struggling two contenders have built cohesion in their brutal and survivalistic backgrounds. Their dynamic finally found true strength and they rolled through the rest of the tournament into the finals.

@Grall_Stonefist - Tyr Nosebreaker, Space Wolf (SM) Grey Hunter
@KorCharon - Phyrrus Ataraxus, Terran (M) Palantine Sentinel

The Catachani and the Space Wolf now would be facing their final round against the Captain of the 4th Company of the Ultramarines, Learchus Abantes and his choice of human comrade. Who was interestingly nobody less than Phyrrus Attraxus, the Palantine Sentinel of Terra who just joined the Deathwatch on behest of the High Lords of Terra (or as such was assumed).

"I would have hoped to see an Ultramarine today." Learchus mused, out of his power armor looking much less impressive, but nonetheless well defined, a giant amidst humans and swinging his blade with care and precision. "But I suppose you cannot have whelps fight a full grown wolf." He said with disappointment. Not into Tyr, but the soldiers he trained. Reservists were not what they used to be.

"But I'm sure your ferocity will pay off once they face the Orks we are setting to march out against. And as such, I thank you as a mentor and captain." He gave the Space Wolf a respectful nod.
