~~ Lower Decks - Narrator / Deathwatch Captain Varuuk ~~
    @Maleth - Felthernia Nar'Therena, Starlen (F) Assassin
@TuskatheDaemonKilla - Lanius Skyruss, Human (M) Tech Priest

Varuuk chuckled. "On the quest for knowledge are we?" The Deathwatch Astartes glanced at Lanius, telling him just with a look that he would leave it to the Tech Priest whether to share what the Omnissiah truly was or not.

"And before you answer. Why? Why are you a slave to a creature that you know you could kill? That Inquisitor. Amleth. Did he beat you that hard into submission? Or is it just because he managed to get that pretty choker on you that you obey? Are you even enjoying life? Doing the duty of a foreign species with their own agenda. Instead of serving your people? Speaking in a language that is not yours... If I was in your spot, I would jump off this catwalk right here and now and take my life rather than serve the enemy."

The Iron Hand marched up right to the alien and put his hand easily around her neck, gripping the collar. Tightening it around her neck without obstructing air intake. Just to let her know that he could easily kill her right here, right now. "Or is your kin so weak that you are just born as slaves?" His eye squinted and it took his every bit of control to not kill the Starlen in this very moment. It was not worth the trouble it was worth. Yet at the same time, his laser-focused glance right into Felthernia's alien orbs was that of one who wanted the truth.

@BadDo9 - Denton 'Longfang' Reach, Catachan (M) Jungle Fighter
@Grall_Stonefist - Tyr Nosebreaker, Space Wolf (SM) Grey Hunter

Apraxus gestured to Rob to get back. And Longfang would easily see why, there was a knee-high barricade made out of fake rockcrete. As the Catachani was looking around, he would see there were similar covers all over the place. Just high enough to not completely cover behind them. If anything they were barely to hold back the melee fighters.

Apraxus stood straight up, to make himself look taller, but even then he just didn't quite reach up to Tyr who was about two heads taller. There was no communication between the Ultramarine and the auxilia, so most likely they already made a plan pre-battle.

From the vox-speakers in the corners of the room a voice came up. "T-10 seconds until the first round!" And the first round for Nosebreaker and Denton would start momentarily, leaving them the opportunity to prepare mentally and physically one last time.

  2. Lanius seemed to materialize out from the shadows. "Must you torment the creature Captain?" His synthesized voice came in as emotionless as ever. Earlier he had wanted to simply observe the construction while the xenos had their conversation with the captain but now he felt he should intervene. Then again he was speaking to an astartes captain and a captain of the Death Watch at that, if this astartes wanted to kill him there was practically nothing he could do against him. Lanius was certainly not a push over in combat but in the end he was an architect and a scientist not a warrior.

Then again no use in backing down now he had already revealed himself. "It may be an animal but it is an animal that belongs to an inquisitor. I highly doubt Amleth would appreciate you damaging or intimidating their pets, not to mention I believe picking on something weaker than you is rather childish wouldn't you agree? That said I am also fully aware I have no power over your actions so I only ask that you not be so ruff with it. Less it runs off and tells its master about your actions now, if you let it live of course."

"Well captain, our situations are very different to behin with", Phyrrus stated carefully noticing the captain's passion regarding the question. "Terran court politics and intrigues are a difficult affair and I won't bore you with details about petty plots but I can say this: If any officers of the sentinels, who are sworn to protect the throneworld and the imperial household would act outside his adsigned command and further than that place himself in the chain or command of one of the ordos he would not only be shot and all his relatives be turned into servitors but also cause a political crisis beyond your comprehension. The loyalty of all regiments stationed at the palace needs to be beyond absolute, as the effects of heresy at the heart of the imperium would be dreadful, so if a world dies, but the bonds of loyalty that keep the imperium together stay intact, it was worth it."
  4. Maleth Maleth Subordinate

Needless to say, Felthernia's flustered expression indicated she had been caught off guard by both Varuuk's unexpected aggression and the red-robed figure stepping in on her behalf, however patronizing it was towards her. Still, she had to reply, so the Starlen took a deep breath, then said to the Space Marine "Very well then, you want the truth, in short I don't consider you my enemy. Not when there are foes about that are capable of far worse fates than what you could threaten me with, or I could threaten you with, for some perspective."

"So as much as you try to make my situation unpleasant, all you're succeeding in is testing my patience. Much as Amleth does, but then again he is the figure to whom I have to support, irrespective of my personal talents and views about him." With that said, the Starlen was left to hope that was enough to leave her in a position of less risk from Varruk.

~~ Lower Decks - Narrator / Deathwatch Captain Varuuk ~~

@TuskatheDaemonKilla - Lanius Skyruss, Human (M) Tech Priest

Varuuk let go of the alien, letting her fall and land on her knees. He was not pleased with the answer but satisfied. Or so it seemed until his hand went to his combat knife and he moved it in one quick strike, thrusting it into the collar of Felthernia into the central power unit. It sparked for a moment and whirred loudly, before discharging the power in a burst that overloaded the shock collar and forced the lock to open and simply fall off.

"This orbital shipyard spans almost the size of a small moon. You have been given ultimate freedom, you could easily live off the supplies you could steal. But on the other hand. You would betray your master and if anyone would ever see you only once, the Ultramarines would set out a purging conquest. Either way. I suggest you to get out of here, before someone spots you without your collar."

Varuuk simply said to the alien before looking over to the Tech priest. "And if you wish to continue to protect her. I suggest you escort her back to our vessel, else someone might shoot her on sight if she can't manage to sneak back on the strike cruiser, or accidentally sets foot into the wrong one."

The Deathwatch Captain knew his boundaries, having been stuck playing politics for longer than he liked. But that didn't mean, he could entertain himself by risking the life of a pathetic xenos which made the mistake to approach an alien hunter. He stopped caring about the two, his head looking upwards again watching the Tech Priests continue their work on the vessel.

@KorCharon - Phyrrus Ataraxus, Terran (M) Palantine Sentinel

"It seems we have more in common than you might think." Learchus said, greatly pleased with the answer provided. "After all, imagine an Ultramarine Captain such as myself was to abandon the majority of a combined battleforce just to take up the mantle of the Deathwatch and fight with them in a daring strike instead of shoulder-to-shoulder with his brethren. It would not be simply disgraceful, but breaking the very codex Astartes we hold close to our heart."

The two marched on, walking at a relaxed pace. The fights were not going to run away, and they would not be joining until the finals either way.

"This better be worth all this hassle." Alnar peeked to the next room. His face contorted into a slight form of disgust as he saw the tech priests again. He did not envy their fate.
He waited for his opportunity again to sneak out and took it when it presented itself. Alnar was more than prepared to take a life if it came to that.
In any case he was closer to home than in a long time before.
  7. The problem with not having a combat plan yet, was that Tyr was pretty damn sure that Denton could not understand Vlka Fenryka battle signs, nor Fenrisian runes, and Arstartes battle signs where properly also beyond him at the moment, so instead they maybe just had to be simple this first round, "I go left, you go right, then figure it out later?" Tyr said as he slowly tensed all the muscles in his body, making preparation to just burst forwards for the ultramarine, sure it would be what he expected, The Routs plan to make them all seem like savage barbarians worked most of the time, and for now that might just have to do. And Tyr was pretty sure he could take the guy in a fight, even if this was supposed team work, they could figure out plans for the next round, for now Tyr would be fine to simply break that aquiline nose.
  8. Lanius' mechanical eyes clicked as he watched the captain remove the collar from the Starlen. A small metal tendril slithered out from under his robes and grabbed the damaged collar. It was a quick motion, shooting out from under the robes and quickly pulling it back under his robes into an unknown fate. As a tech priest he did not appreciate the random destruction of technology but as a logical being he knew expressing his opinion to the captain now would be pointless. Instead he looked over to the Starlen. "What the captain spoke of is true, follow me back to the ship." @Maleth

It had been a quiet journey so far with neither member of the accompanying delegation breathing a word to one another as the group continued onward towards the anticipated simulated battlefield exercises, Cooper mentally flicked away an idle train of thought as he concentrated on finding his way to Lazlo Tiberius. There was a sense of trepidation in the air as if something was about to begin coming from the direction of the direction of the Academia training barracks again he with a force of will quashed the idle prescience in his head before acting upon it. Frederick hurried his movements forward his force stave was making loud metallic clanking noises on the polished ferrocrete floors as he walked, from such a reasonably long journey plus the brisk walking pace he was involuntarily breathing heavily, it had been a while since he had to lead anyone anywhere from the Librarium.

'Not much farther now my Lords @Vulpas @Tamu , it is possible that we may arrive in time to observe the first simulation of open combat, there may yet be room for us to watch from a vantage point where we can properly take in the current progress as it unfolds.'
  10. < @Uriel1339 @Grall_Stonefist >

Longfang looked up at the Spacewolf with a grin that could be construed as feral, he shrugged. "Sure. I'll run for one of those walls or some such." he shrugged, flicking his eyes towards the other human. - They have a plan. Good. We just need to survive long enough to figure out what it is, and then disrupt it. They'll fall apart soon after that. - he thought, hands twitching. The hunt was upon him, and as he had done many times before, he would being them down. Once a plan was destroyed, the components begin to fall apart. Be it caused by taking the head of the enemy leader, burning their supplies, infiltrating their artillery and cutting them down.. this is what he does best...
