Splendid choice. Actually I was in the middle of finalizing the transcriptions from one of the docked vessels, the Vae Victus. They bring victory against the Great Devourer from Tarsis Ultra. The Mortifactors and Ultramarines together with some regiments they could draft managed to destroy an entire tendril. Of course in the process, many, many, many great Space Marines died. Which is why they have returned to Ultramar, to stock up from the reserve companies." He stroke his beard and closed his eyes, thinking about other events. "Then of course I just learned that Chapter Master Marneus Calgar banished the captain of the fourth, Uriel Ventris, onto a death oath. Fine lad, but he just won't appreciate the Codex." He opened his eyes and looked up at Goreparan with a smile. "You would have liked that one." "Now as for other events, we are readying for a campaign against Orks and the recent activity of Tau is also disturbing. But there is something far darker in the shadows of the near future... So I have sensed. I cannot pinpoint it's origin. But I know it will be very, very dangerous for all of Ultramar." He shook his head to clear his mind. "You asked me about the past, apologies my transgression there. Well let's see..." He walked over to a very big podium with a book that was bigger and most likely heavier than most people could carry. "Valedor, a world of the Ecclessiarchy had been overrun by Hive Fleet Leviathan, leaving only a handful Battle Sisters of the order of the Sacred Rose alive. Ferrite Mons was overrun by chaos entities. Not even the Vostroyans could hold stand. The Dark Angels managed to stop an Ork attack most likely led by Ghazghkull Mag Uruk Thraka before they could do too much damage. This is considered part of the Third War of Armageddon." "There are many other incidents, but nothing you shouldn't know already or too drastic, I believe. There is the Orphean War. A war for almost a decade now between the Imperium and a Necron Tomb World... Let me know if you have any specifics in mind." The older-looking Space Marine smiled warmly and as inviting as ever. "And feel free to leave the Librarium for the rest of the day, Frederick. These guests will be only temporary and might need your guidance. You have done well today, as reliable as ever." He gave the younger psyker a strong, meaningful nod. ~~ Imperial Navy Academia, Training Barracks - Master of the Fleet Lazlo Tiberius ~~ @BadDo9 - Denton 'Longfang' Reach, Catachan (M) Jungle Fighter @Grall_Stonefist - Tyr Nosebreaker, Space Wolf (SM) Grey Hunter - waiting on players - ~~ Communication Deck - Narrator ~~ @Wata - Alnar, Eldar (M) Corsair Reaver NPC: Varuuk, Iron Hand (SM) Deathwatch Captain "Your soul will be stuck in that pretty stone of yours." Varuuk jested as the device was taken from him. "As for politics... I pray to my Primarch's soul that you do not compare me to the games of the Inquisitors." Varuuk gave the alien a final nod and pointed at the leaving tech priests for the shift change. "Kill if you must, but make sure the corpses won't be spotted." The Captain added. "I'll be waiting on the lower decks." And with that, Varuuk took his leave through one of the bigger maintenance shafts. Alnar would see that the room indeed cleared out completely, giving him the opportunity to dash through the first room. But was the Space Marine really that straightforward and honest? Why would an alien hunter benefit from cooperating with an Eldar? The corsair yet struggled to sense any malice from the space marine.
'Thank you my Lord, I will guide our patrons to any request of knowledge they might seek within this Librarium before I conclude my duty.' Frederick bowed again as he received his master's dispensation to guide the delegation and felt gratified to be granted some reprieve from his duties allowing him to meditate on the Emperor's teachings in his chambers. He turned to Red Tarsinis @Vulpas the Crusader that had requested access to the tomes regarding swordsmanship and martial consummation, he thought hard for a moment his eyes closed as he recalled where such knowledge was to be found in this Librarium holding his free hand up to his head as he did so. When he was quite sure he walked and beckoned for the Crusader to follow leading him away from the group towards a more distant set of shelves where a collection of servo skulls were arranging ancient records and accounts, he politely directed the crusader towards a nearby plinth as a servo skull deftly replaced the tome currently displayed. 'If you may follow me I will guide you to our repository of sanctioned transcripts regarding close combat techniques and battle strategy some of which authored by esteemed guards of the Cardinals Crimson during their years of seclusion.'
Red bowed similar as he did to the librarian as he met the Priamaris psyker Fredrick, Listening to the Librarian Iovita there was several events he hadn't heard of recently going on The over running of Valedor, caused him a note of anger and sorrow that was only registered on his face for a second though a small grin appeared as he heard a small group of sisters at least managed to escape. It was good to hear at least some survived the wretched xeno incursions. News of Ferrite Mons though took any breif joy away with news of the arch enemy a foot, The worlds fate he wondered if a retribution force was on its way to retake it or burn it. Hearing Fredrick call over to him he nodded. "Cardinal Crimson guards? you have copies on there tomes authored by them impressive." Red said amazed by the Ultramars librarium's holdings.
'Much of the records we retain were painstaking transcribed and sanctioned by devoted acolytes of the newly formed Ordo Hereticus in the 36th millennium during an Inquisitor's investigation into the earliest formed crusader houses for signs of apostasy and potential violation of the Decree passive. After a decades long tribunal said Inquisitor had successfully rooted out several sources of Goge Vandire's old guard in the Cardinals Crimson and had sanctioned the rest of the Crusader houses as being within the parameters set aside by the Decree Passive.' The Primaris psyker spoke calmly and in a matter of fact manner his eyes closed as he recalled the knowledge that must have been one of thousands of different texts in his mind, he thought for a moment. Frederick gestured to a nearby Servo skull and uttered a string of verbal commands said slowly, clearly and purposely following which the hovering machine clicked its acknowledgement before retrieving a large heavy tome from the bookshelf and again replaced the displayed record on the plinth. Cooper continued his lecture beckoning again for the Crusader @Vulpas to read the new record he had requested be put upon the plinth. 'Many of this forgotten Inquisitor's transcriptions eventually found their way here where they had been diligently and meticulously maintained and rewritten when necessary for the last two millennia, I believe this tome comprehensively summarizes the written work of several crusaders several of which we still hold the original transcriptions of.'
"Fascinating." Red said transfixed as he listened to Frederick, A tome that had been not only penned in maintained something that he found rare these days. "indeed are the names of these crusaders penned as well in this book?" Red asked curious about if any of this crusader figures where legendary figures or heroic figures that have served in the Imperium.
Listening throughout the Librarian's piece, Felthernia heard a lot that she would like to follow up as part of an inquiry, but she suspected that the inquiry wouldn't end too well if she raised too many questions. So while making a mental note of what had been said, she did allow herself one question for the main Librarian which was "Sidetracking onto something you mentioned, what's the Codex?" Suffice to say, she was allowing herself this question before moving onto to something else, for time was precious and the Starlen would like to see what else the Shipyard had to offer... As well as get to the bottom of a few raised questions by other events.
It was a later hour when Phyrrus, careful not to draw any atention, ventured towards his navy lighter parked in the hangar bay. The shuttlecraft was standart issue, except for one detail, the communications array had been upgraded to send unnoticed and encrypted in system transmissions to any near astrophatic relay station. After closing the hatch behind him, he laid his hand upon the device, feeling a small jolt of pain as a needle spiked his finger. The words, identity confirmed, Protocol Endymion initiated, appeared on a screen. Slowly and steadily, Phyrrus spoke his message as the machine recorded: "Lightning bolt has struck the hero's hand. Three kings search for the messiah. The beast dwells in civil cave. There is strife in babylon. Request instructions?" At the press of a button the message was sent and some time later, when the ship had docked at calth, a reply arrived. This message had been encoded as a pict recording and after decryption, he proceded to watch it on the communications device's screen. The words were spoken with a deep voice, uttered by a huge figure, clad in a dark hooded cloak:"The eagle surveys the hunting ground. The truth is shrouded by the many hands. Observe the beast and it's master and asses their intent. Talon out." Now knowing what to do, Phyrrus deleted all records of the conversation, shut down the comm apparatus and smade for the docks to observe and analyze.
Lanius stayed in the back of the group within the library as the master of the structure gave them a lesson in history. He couldn't say he was terribly interesting though, many people have heard of the deeds of the ultra marines though he could say he had mild interest in the actions of the infamous ork warlord that had a brief mention. Such a barbaric and crude race and yet it had managed to produce something of unusual intelligence not to mention the fabled ork mekboy that works for it. His train of thought was briefly interrupted when his chosen tailing target asked about the Codex Astartes. His eyes clicked as he zoomed in on the avian with an air of suspicion. He will let the librarian do the explaining but he would wonder just how much they were willing to explain to a xenos.

After all, one of it's primary teachings was to know your enemy while not revealing your own hand. He eyed the Minotaur with slight humor that was expressed in a friendly smile from the Ultramarine. One of a chapter who abides the codex as strongly as they might know more than some who study it - to ensure they oppose it. He was quiet for maybe a minute straight, making an entire monologue in his head until he shook his head. "Apologies. I yet have to answer you. don't I?" He nodded, answering his rhetorical question, his eyes closed as he imagined the pages before his mind, flipping through the imaginary pages remembered character by character, trying to seek the answer of a proper summary in the very book itself. "The Codex.... Mhhhh... Yes how to describe the Magnum Opus of the creator of my Gene-Seed, the founding father of Ultramar? ... Imagine. Peace, or war. And you wonder how to react in a certain situation. Be it facing an uprising of your own people. Be it facing a force that outnumbers you to any ratio. Imagine to not know what to do. But there is no fear to have. For the Codex Astartes bears the answer. No matter what situation one shall face as a warrior, as a leader, as a living being. You shall find guidance in the Codex, for it was written by the second greatest ruler of all. For the first is of course the God-Emperor of Terra himself." He explained slowly and calmly, eyes closed all the while. They only opened once he finished, his eyes staring right into the aliens, not with hate but curiosity. "But tell me, xeno agent of the Inquisition... What are you? You are no sub-species of the Kroot, so attempt not to fool me with that. You may be Avian like them. Yet you are something completely else." ~~ Primary Docks - Narrator ~~ @KorCharon - Phyrrus Ataraxus, Terran (M) Palantine Sentinel A figure would appear next to the Sentinel, the heavy steps alone giving away that it was a Space Marine. "Don't see many of you around. Actual born Terrans. After all, that insignia is that of the Palantine Sentinels, is it not?" He gestured at his uniform, before crossing his arms. The man was average size for a Space Marine, with very short trimmed hair, two service studs over his left eye and a flat face that looks like he forgot how to smile. 'Yes indeed, several of the figures in this tome have served the Imperium for decades, I believe some went on to serve in the said Inquisitors own retinue. Some of the names have been redacted however, we were assured that some of these details had been placed under inquisitorial seal, this likely had been more sensitive information regarding the tribunal.' Frederick grasped the force stave more tightly as he concentrated to recall the details of the tome his hand still raised to his head, he smiled as he concluded his lecture and he lowered his free hand to carefully opened the record sitting on the lectern to its first page. Inside was a glossary of several different authored treatise each sorted into its own chapter, satisfied that the Crusader @Vulpas has the tome he has been looking for he dismissed himself to find another of the delegation that required assistance. 'Read for as long as you wish, I must tend to your colleagues.'
