Alnar's head lolled to the side toward Longfang like he barely could spare the attention to care. Smiley was unavailable and the slave status made it like he could not escape humans here anyway.
"Fine. Show me. Even if it is you and your apes luring me over to a stabbing party I'll at least be rid of this."
He took a swig and ran a hand through his hair, afterwards wiping his mouth.
"In any case I'll be inebriated so it's a win-win, right?"

The Deathwatch Captain preferred to meet face-to-face rather than just communicate via the devices at hand and has answered the call of Goreparan rather quickly. He appeared in his already repaired armor, having not just put first hand on it himself but having utilized his serf and those of the Inquisitors to expedite the task. You never know what the warp could bring, and he was not going to take a chance of a cheap death. But even as he talked to Goreparan, he maintained the vox-channel to Tyr until he might, or might not, arrive as well.

"The mission? Surely you refer to the failure of teamwork. That, Minotaur, is exactly why I hate to operate outside of the brotherhood the Astartes are. Inquisitors who believe that any cost justifies their means and schemes, sacrificing good soldiers for their own devices. We are better off by not worrying about them and just do our part and watch each others backs. On the paper it states we are all servants of the Imperium. But first and foremost we are Space Marines. Second, comes our chapter. And only after both of those, comes the oath to the Inquisition. There is no chain of command to climb for us. We are excluded from the politics, which I gladly welcome. But I will not care one bit about the insanity the Inquisitors have presented thus far. I do not blame our other brethren to return to their chapters, and I would consider it too, was it not for the fact that work has to be done. Work I cannot entrust in others hands."

Varuuk, judging by his voice and fist raising, clearly had enough of the nonsense displayed in the last battle and simply wanted to move on to the next skirmish. To unleash his frustration and deliver righteous death. And there was a burning in his eyes and voice that lacked before, something that was hidden under his cybernetic and machine-obsessed mentality. No matter how much an Iron Hand might strive for the strength of the metal. They always would be human in their twin hearts.

Lanius would, perhaps with slight contempt, remember that the specific request of having his own workshop was denied. He would be a servant to Inquisitor Marcella like all the other humans. And if not even Rygor under Amleth could have his workshop, then why should Lanius? Not to forget there was an entire laboratory under his command in a solar system far away from their current location. And besides, Lanius was not requested for forgery as a primary function. Perhaps it was too much of an assumption that every Techpriest is a constructor.

As for the Dark Eldar amidst them, there were plenty of gazes - and none truly of fear. The collar had been fastened to his neck once more. It was akin to watching a natural predator in a cage. Sure you knew it could tear all and anything apart in a moments notice. But also, it was in a cage. Yet, there was a respect, if not fear, that yet any human was to openly offend him with even a gesture. His ears would pick up the one or other insult behind his back and calling him xeno nicknames. But none said something to his face, spat at him or any of such deed.

The crew that walked by saluted or nodded their head while marching on as they passed Denton. All and everyone heard of his recent feats. Yet their smiles and positive attitudes vanished in a heartbeats moment when their eyes fell on Alnar. How could a combatant of such caliber not just gaze, but converse with an alien creature? The only good kind of theirs were those buried under ashes and blood. None dared to comment on the conversation itself - yet individuals kept ridiculously large distances to the pair in fear of being associated with the alien. Or to give the impression of tolerating xenos.
  3. Lanius nodded. "No that is not my purpose aboard this vessel though I do possess a fascination in weaponry I'm afraid the particular kind I am interested in are not the kinds an infantryman can carry." Lanius did also notice the xenos staring at them nearby. Curious how the Inquisitor lets their pet walk the halls of the ship without supervision, he thought to himself. He did also take notice to the collar around their neck, well at least the inquisitor is not too irresponsible. @Vulpas

"If I wanted you dead, you wouldn't see me." Longfang said simply as they would eventually reach the door to the viewing hall he had mentioned. He noticed the looked of the other humans and simply smirked a little at them. They could take it however they wanted, but he wasn't going to anger the inquisitor by killing one of his pets - and who knew when having one like you (if that was even possible) could come in handy? As always, Longfang was a survivalist. Once they reached the door, he would turn to leave. "Here you are. Enjoy your peace." he simply said, striding off once more - but not out of sight yet.

Stifling a chuckle the minotaur replied to the captain "Not exactly what i had in mind but noted, i was more so referring to my own performance instead of the inquisitors due to as you have mentioned their lack of teamwork, discipline and hubris to put things mildly. But alas inquisitors are more likely to off themselves then listen to advice and feed back from those that aren't their peers and even then it would be done grudgingly leat alone listen to advice from others, least in my experince so far.

Anyhow back to the matter at hand i wish to know how i fared in the eyes of others, what i could have done better, what you tought of my actions so that i can make up for any short commings and at the same time increase my repertoire of knowledge. Also if it helps any i will still be here to lend my aid for a while yet"

Phyrrus Ataraxus rose from his seat as the gun cutter he had spent the last 14 hours inside of made its final aproach towards the main hangar of the Darkest Night. It had been a long and arduous journey from holy Terra, the warp was in turmoil in this millenium of war and passage to the eastern fringes had taken many months aboard various naval vessels. He was happy his voyage was now coming to an end and the real work could finally commence. Holding a dataslate he went trough the information he had gathered on those he was about to meet, an odd group to say the least, containing honorable astartes as well as loathsome xenos. He had been sent to observe these curious proceedings and report any intricacies to his masters on terra. After all while the mandate of the inquisition might be without limit someone always needed to watch the watchmen and reports of the actions commited by some of the radicals in the ordos were often received with concern by the senatorum imperialis as well as the tower of hegemon. He had heard many tales of Captain Varuuk's bravery and found it hard to believe that such a warrior would tolerate collusion with aliens.

As the cutter began lowering towards the hangar deck, he donned his helmet, performed last rites on his ornate warplate and weapons and recited a last prayer to the imortal god emperor. Weapons holstered and cautious of what might await him he stepped towards the exit ramp. As the ramp lowered amids smoke and mechanical creaking, Phyrus Ataraxus strode forward with measured steps and set foot aboard the vast vessel. He methodically assessed the hangar, looking for someone to contact.

"Indeed not in the weaponry of infantry men? Would it be to prying if I asked what type you study in?" Red asked a bit interested in what lanius exact workings and studies where in the mechincus. He wondered if he was a techpriest, that worked with large vehicles such as tanks, Or possibly the weapons of the god machines titans, or something else more dangerous, bits of this mostly being curious of Lanius also skills as a techpriest.

Alnar peered into the room, hovering by the door a moment. He glanced back at Longfang.
    "Hey, mon-keigh."
The eldar took a quick sip while waiting for the human to look back.
"Thanks." With that, he stepped inside the room and got to drink in peace with a view, as long as that would last or he ran out of drink. Not every human is a bastard all the time, apparently. He was still skeptical about it.

"A Space Marine who wishes an actual report on his performance. A Minotaur out of all that. You are rarer than a Black Shield." Varuuk chuckled entertained. "If just half the aspirants had your desire of improving, the Iron Hands would had been back to full strength in no time. Alas. I cannot speak for the others. But in my opinion, you saved lives. And that is all that matters to me. You took on enemies bigger than you which was reckless until you have shown your size comes also with strength. I support each of your decisions, even that you disagreed with me during our deployment. An Astartes shall stand for what they believe in. Always." The Captain brushed Goreparans' robe covered shoulder that usually would don the Minotaur chapter icon on the shoulder pauldron.

"Never anger nor disappoint the machine spirit of your armor or weapon. Never forget that our flesh is weak and must be mended by one such as yourself. And the machines we equip ourselves with protect us from the threats within and without."

Just then their exchange got cut short by the arrival of a stranger in a vessel that just had arrived shortly before the departure into the warp. The vessel had been around for less than ten minutes and only took it's time to open up due to safety protocols from on-board servitors scanning for anything that wasn't supposed to be there.

Their actual cargo, addition to the Inquisitor retinue, Phyrrus Atraxus marched out of it. Only to see two Deathwatch Marines converse. One without question was Captain Varuuk. The other was yet unknown to him and not clad in armor like Varuuk.

The man was of typical statue for an imperial soldier, but his armor showed that there he was more than a simple man of the Hammer of the Imperium. He was a Stormtrooper with the rank of a Captain. But even beyond that, someone like a Space Marine would know the icons and colors of his uniform to be nothing less than a Palatine Sentinel. A Terran.

Varuuk grinned over to the new arrival and said loud enough so the entire hangar personnel could hear. "It seems the High Lords are not pleased and send one of their palace pets to keep an eye on the inquisitors!" It was not that he wanted to incite strife... Or was he?

  10. "My expertise are my business but do not push your damaged gear towards me as if I were some servitor." Lanius responded to Red’s minor prodding, not agitated but also not wanting them to press further into the subject. “Nevertheless I have nothing for you besides idle conversation so I suggest either changing topics or consult someone actually suited and or interested in repairing your gear.”
