Although the lore allows for such close term commitments more like truces than alliances If the game has the freedom and ability to do more than a 2 side factions then its better to follow this freedom
There's no chance you stop an alliance like that happening, I mean it's just bound to happen, probably not at release but eventually... it could... If it's possible...
Well they did something like this in neocron (very old MMO shooter) there was about 12 faction and each one was allied neutral or enemy to the others, BUT you could kill allies if you wanted (and neutrals) the downside in that being you lost soulight which if it was to low made copbots shoot you and you would drop a TON of stuff. They could do it different in this but I love the idea of no faction being an ally of the other
While temporal ceasefire will probably not be uncommon (a la "I you don't shoot me while I kill that Ork force, I will not shoot you while I you crunch these Eldar over there"), these ceasefires will arguably be highly unstable - the temptation to fall your competitors in the back while they are fighting amongst themselves. As such, there simply would be to much distrust amongst the four factions as if that any long-term alliance would be possible, especially as there is no such thing as a "team victory".
On our side sure, but for space marine side? just talking to each other gives of RP "HERESY" and exterminatus words popping up. Well it should not happen but yea it will happen eventually after some time.
Well, it depends on the circumstance and which factions are allied. For example, if Space Marines were dominating the current map(s), and a Alliance between Eldar, Orkz and Chaos was made, then the allied factions would most likely work together, considering they're being dominated by a current foe. However, if two dominating factions were to ally, yes it would be likely they would fight over each over.
Being that friendly fire is part of the game, alliances will be difficult to come by. If we are running for objectives, as an Ork, I'll happily hack an ally to bits as well as the enemy to get the goods.
