One world map

    I was thinking about replying to katitof when i realized the diffiicult to change this system, cause for now,
    Arkhona have 340 players slots, so if we are more players than that ammount, we need another instance of the planet. And i guess that is why we have several copies.

    But i would love to see 1 world map instead of 6.

    Yeah basically this is map 1, version 1.3 as it's already seen updates. The map will start to take more shape when campaigns and their systems take shape. There's a lot of back end work to be done with them still as they're working on having immediate feedback with each battle. So for example you win on attack on Zedek, the node on the map sublimes into your territory and you move forward. Lose a defense and it works the other way. That's basically map v1.4 since map v1.5 and on will start intergrating more of the garrison and hives.. Like seeing individual instances tied to the territory they're meant to influence. v1.6 may start seeing a more "organic" map that places each of these warzones across continents and each one after that will get closer to what I think people are asking: a world at war. And right now, in the begining I think the campaign areas are going to be fairly small on the world stage. They'll rage over state sized territory as the devs figure out how to incorporate large sections of land and actually make it feel like a continent.. Which will expand yet again into several continents and then finally thr entire world.

    That said, remember that A.) the system is scalable in both directions. They can use it with the paltry numbers of 100 people this game has seen in its low points, it could feasibly handle millions. B.) The trick with it is they have to be careful with the pairings and make them look like they make sense geographically. There might be an ocean seperating Chaos and Orks. Mountains seperating LSM and Eldar ect.

  4. I know! Imagine a fortress map with LSM in it and all other fractions trying to take it from 3 sides. I even shot some for you on location... Although my budget was about $50 including cam rent.

    Ah, I can see you've never played planetside.
    What I see is the orks, eldar and CSMs teaming up and defending against the endless swarms of the adeptus astartes. Eventually the tyranids will join the defense as well.

    Yes 4 continents. Hossin (Jungle), Indar (Desert), Esamir (Ice desert) and Amerish ("normal" green area).

    Now you just made me imagine an Eldar DA, a Chaos Traitor, an Ork boy and a Hormagaunt sitting around a campfire inside a defense station meanwhile there's other lots of them killing other LSM trying to get up the walls, along with lasgunners and eldar rangers sniping the jump assaults (lol but fuck that in EC cause I-frames LOLOLOLOLO) and having a conversation like this:

    Eldar: hey guys, want some sauce?

    Ork: AM FIT AS A FIDDLE PANZEE BUT THANKS ANEEWAY

    Chaos: give me some of that, it will please nurgle

    Tyrannid: HARGUHWEHEHGHHH

    Eldar: ...is that some kind of spoiled piece of bread you got there?

    Chaos: I SAID IT FUCKING PLEASES NURGLE!!!

    Eldar: alright...

    Ork: OY! WERE IZ DAT UMIE ARM I STORD IN MA SACK! DID SOME GROT STEAL IT FROM ME?!

    Chaos: IT WAS PROBABLY ONE OF THOSE LOYALIST BASTARDS WITH JUMP PACKS!!!! THEY CAN'T EVEN LET US EAT!!! actually, maybe either that or one of those damn warp spiders.

    Eldar: no mon'keigh, we don't have that kind of fancy stuff here... only LSM do, though for some reason we're managing to hold this fort for way too long

    Ork: HA! DA UMIEZ ARE DYIN' FASTA THAN EXPECTED! DEY'Z JUST RUSH IN AND GET HEADSHOT!

    Tyrannid: WAAGHRELGHFGSHHHH *slurp* *swoosh*

    Ork: EY YOU BUG FING! DID YA EAT MA UMIE ARM?!? IT WAZ MINE U GIT! IMMA KRUMP YA!!!!

    Tyrannid: GAAARGLASHFGWACK!!!

    Eldar: gentlemen please calm down

    Ork: YA SHUT UP YA PACIFIST PANZ-- oy, waz dat ovva dere?

    Chaos: *looks over there* oh, it's another...LOYALIST DOG WITH A JUMP PACK AND A PLASMA-GRAVITY CANNON-SWORD AND A SHIELD!!!! WHAT!!!! HOW DID HE GET THROUGH OUR SNIPERS!!!!! AND HOW DID HE GET THAT COMBINATION ON A SINGLE BUILD!!!!!!

    *after that, no one heard of those 4 ever again*

    If we add gvg map, and random desert areas we could avoid to repeat Significant maps with specific buildings, not like now 4 games started in Olipsis.

    I think having just a big map would work fine. Matchmaking would protect smaller factions like eldar against the SM swarm. For example if 4 war parties of SM were to attack eldar territory and there was only 1 war party of Eldar then only one match would take place.

    Since most factions would mainly be bordered by two other factions something like an air assault capability might need to be added so factions could attack the third faction. The air assault would basically mean that the faction would start the match in a dropship that would be landed on the map.

    Most territories on the map would need to be locked in order to create a war front against other factions.

    The air assault ability could also be used by factions that get backed into a corner on the map. They would be able to attack previously locked areas of the map in order to build out their territory and harass other factions.
