Generally speaking if someone engages me in melee on Traitor, I try to melee them back. This usually ends with me getting shot in the back by either my team or another enemy but it's just a habit at this point.
I like this idea of ranged-melee being one, it makes sense because it's more than half way there and it would fix most of the issue. I think that the class systems made a lot of problems for balancing while being unnecesarily put into game. I'd be tottally fine without classes, much simplier and clean choice imo.
I just wanted to remind you, that When melee was OP, and there were so many people crying about it, and it got fixed to a close balance. Now that ranged is just the easy mode you want melee players to actualy be ok with it for it not beeing fixed? Melee is not even situational....Tigh spaces?Corridors?close quarter battles where melee excels? Nope....Corridors, where bolters and heavy bolters excel Tigh spaces, where bolters and storm bolters excel Close quarter battles, where bolters and storm bolters excel. I'm not saying it's not possible to get melee kills, sure as hell is not as easy as picking up a bolter and get them. Also almost 40% of "melee kills", are from pistols.... A knife is a much better melee viable weapon, than a pistol is a ranged one. A knife can do the same as other weapons, only dealing a bit less dmg. A pistol, does not have the same accuracy, nor range, nor dmg fall off, nor magazine size... And , while taticools have a wide ranged of at least "usable" loadouts, for melee right now, it's either sword....or just not worth the effort. Again, there are far more melee based classes, than taticools classes.
Because it's inconsistent. Sometimes you can roll out of it in a timely fashion to reposition for another strike, other times your bashing the button wanting to scream why the fuck are you still standing there and dieing. I believe it was also worse before the hotfixes.
As Aceryl said, most "melee kills are pistol kills." Even in its weak state melee is still sufficiently intimidating to force moves out of your opponent and open them to being shot. I don't see a problem with this. Matches with 5+ assault marines running around spamming chainsword attacks have been some of my least interesting fights. If they had even a bit more impunity to ranged damage every match would quickly devolve into a chaotic mash where numbers trump forethought and positioning. What I'd like to see is a massive buff to elite melee. More health/armor/toughness, impunity to parrying, etc. Make them monsters that need to be ganged on, exploded, or run over. That way melee lovers get their fix without destroying the game's current balance.
Thank you for the scatterings of constructive feedback. But sadly, @ most of the above: The guideline for this can be found in our forums Code of conduct Please take note of point 3 in particular. I'm Disappointed I really am. Surely we're better than this.
"...a healthy environment..." does not mean "...an environment where no one disagrees with you...". Your idea is ridiculous, and received much deserved ridicule.
You get these kinds of responses because your posts are full of hyperbole, you've always been a poor sport in game in my own experience posting EZ mode this OP that post match, pretty much ignore disagreement and constantly do these doomsaying posts about melee any time it's not adjusted to your liking. It's also rather hypocritical seeing as you've spent the last couple weeks talking about Mindless range spam in every other thread about this.
