This is only been my experience, but if a power fist is top of the leader boards, it's probably from punching transports into space and preforming unwanted rectal examines on unwary victims. But trust me on this, using a stock combat knife, kick them in the face, aim and shoot them in the head, they will die with nary a scuff to yer armor.
What about moving Powerfist to ground assault only to help with the illegal poaching of endangered vehicles and the uselessness of current actual anti-vehicle weapons? This isn't all about melee fights for the powerfist. Having it on JPA makes it the best and most efficient anti-vehicle weapon. Which is why lascannons/zzaps/meltas are used for anti-infantry work and very very rarely for anti-vehicle. Would love your input on that.
Backing this. Seriously, I use P.Fist on TA/JPA (because I'm really, really, really bored of the sword at this point) and the reason I can get 30 kill crusaders consistently because people enforce willful ignorance on themselves. If you keep clanging with the fucking thing I'm gonna keep swinging. You should be d.bashing constantly against the fist. Open with a D.Bash, not a clang. P.Fists are stupidly easy to kill if you stop falling for the fucking bait of clanging or ignoring a sudden audio of a woosh and appearance of a red marker behind you. You should always be backing up from a fist and dropping rounds into them or prepping your D.Bash unless they are bashing. Why people keep clanging with a weapon 3 tiers above them and acting surprised when it shatters their knife is beyond me. Unrelated, remember when P.Swords where OP as hell and nothing has happened to them since but now they apparently aren't broken and it's the fist now?
ABBADDONS DISGRACE NEEDS A NERF OMGROFLPWNT! Now that's out of my system; yea I think this is a good idea overall. Not that I agree with the sentiment of OP title, lol - this has been suggested a few times before. It would do no damage to restrict the higher tiered melee weapons to GA and their equivalents. Give them a reason to be played more than to nerf the FistJPA. FistJPA is often top of the scoreboard because they are able to very effectively hunt tanks (unless Eldar) and in a melee engagement can retreat easier if things go south or sneak in from above. Not entirely true; the Kannon has no snap fire and very limited defence in close quarters, the PC can at least snap fire bullets that hit their intended target.
Dunno how you are having issues with the Fists OP, i honestly find them the easiest of prey when i run around on my Sorc. Unless you are sporting a knife you have a few dbashes in you to use and get an easy kill. And if you mess up the "dance" its so easy to disengage a Fist user, even with a jetpack (since the air strike animation with a fist has no chance of hitting you due to how slow it is).
Okay, here's why I said no. Assault Marines are supposed to be melee combat specialists, hence why the can use the PF. Simply taking one of their toys away just because the weapon is borked won't fix anything. People will just switch to Ground Assaults and "Cheese Fist" their way to the tops of the boards again. What then? We take away PFs from Ground Assaults because it's being used too much? In all honesty, the PF needs to be brought in line with the Ork PK, being a much slower to fire weapon, but still doing a lot of damage. Yes, this will still make BFs and BKs AV weapons, but tbh, that's kind of what they're intended for, and as many people have said, you're already using a lot of LPs to take this in the first place. I'm okay with it being an AV weapon, but it needs to be weaker in melee vs. another player. After all, if we take the TT as an example, Power weapons will always strike last, even if the model has a higher Initiative value. Also, JPAs need to be tweaked so they can't jump out of d-bashes so easily. Maybe make it that they can't sore if they've recently clanged or been d-bashed, just dodge normally backwards and consume some fuel doing it?
I was talking from a long range artillery support weapon which was the stated idea of the plasma cannon changes. In a long-mid range assistance position I would always prefer the kannon over the PC due to the extra damage which lets the kannon assist with vehicles and infantry, which the plasma cannon only works on infantry.
Can we add a default 250lp tax to jump packs instead? heh getting the insane tool of flight while GA pay like 400lp for a shield seems kinda odd, plus it will actually limit some builds. You can go mobility, defense or pure damage as specialist builds while keeping the powersword/medium armour with some fuel builds.
But Ground Assault have to pay for his shield or fight defensless. I don't remember figures, but guess that shield+fist is a pricy combo.
