Powerfist Jump Assaults are the cancer of this game. The more people realize how broken it is, the more and more you see of them. I sat down and counted them in the 12 or so games I played tonight, and there were at least 4 of them in every single game. They were always top xp and top kills, and one even admitted he only does it because he needs the xp and it's easy. The absolute ridiculous nature of this combo is insane. Not only do you get impunity in 90% of your encounters because of escape capability, you have a 100% assurance in defeating any other melee character unless it's another powerfist, and you get the added bonuses of being able to inflict an instant powerfist strike that is nigh-unavoidable and damn near kills someone with the first hit. If people don't know what I mean when I say 100% assurance I'll explain. Firstly what is the melee system currently. Let's refresh... Fast Attack > Strong Attack > D-Bash > Fast Attack Rock, Paper, Scissors obviously. So the issue with Powerfist isn't that it overpowers every other weapon. It's that even if you properly COUNTER it in melee, it doesn't matter. I was using my Wolf Priest, it uses what is effectively a Power Maul, so it's a good weapon. Whether he does a fast or strong attack means nothing. If he does a fast attack and you D-Bash, your weapon takes damage, if he does a strong attack and you do a fast attack, your weapon takes damage. Even if you are on point and properly countering his every attack your weapon will eventually break and his will not and he will kill you. I refuse to play into this garbage any longer. I tried to play devils advocate for a while, see the other side of things, but there is none. Even when you play by the rules and outplay your opponent, he still wins. You can't run from him, you can't counter his attacks, you just die. The only hope is to attack him when he isn't attacking you, or shoot him from far away. I'm sorry, but NO weapon should be unbeatable in a 1v1 situation, none, nada, it shouldn't exist. On top of all of that, they also have the best anti-vehicle capabilities in the game. That's just stupid, remove powerfists from JPA's and put it on Ground Assaults only where it belongs. I invite anyone to bring their points of view to this rant/discussion. Feel free to tell me how I can beat a Powerfist user who is competent with for example nothing but a Slugga Boy preset in a 1v1 fight. I am by no means a bad player, I top the scoreboards in almost every game I play, but unless I'm missing something, this needs to be addressed.
People complained melee fights lasted too long, so now there is an impact tax on defense moves since we "spammed them" too much.
What's the point of countering something if it does nothing but hurt you? Do the Devs actually play this game, like not for their dinky streams but do they actually sit down and play it for extended periods of time?
Don't ask me, I'm still working on what the intended goal for the plasma cannon was since instead of making it more like the ork kannon we made it into the kannon minus the damage. But hey people complained about getting knocked past a downed state and they aren't anymore, just like they helped speed up melee fights with durability punishments.
I'm surprised people are voting no but none of them are voicing their opinions. Heh... Suppose that's their prerogative. I would like people to talk about this at least. It's inaction that has left this game in the laughable state that it's in.
I know we Don,t play the Tabletop, but the Powerfist is a Weapon for Storm Marines. So it shoud stay there. Not the Weapon ore the Class is the Problem. Its the Gamemechanik itselfe.
For the love of... None of you listen, the Power fist/Klaw is actually a trash melee weapon, it's a effective anti vehicle tool, but a competent melee weapon it is not. And this is coming from someone who plays nothing but tactical/devastator and the faction equivalents, all you literally have to do is dbash... light attacks are stunned, and your dbash cancels out their heavy attack by the simple fact that your dbash executes its animation faster. The only time you get the hell out of the way is when you see that little shine and audible cue that the heavy attack animation has completed, up until that has happened, the power fist is a literal free kill.
Storm Marines? I'm not familiar with them. I'm familiar with Assault Squads and only Sergeants could equip a Powerfist for them to my knowledge. Their standard equipment were chainswords. I played Imperial Guard for tabletop but any Space Marine players can feel free to correct me and point me to the page in their codex where I'm wrong. Removing powerfist from Jumppack Assaults will do a lot of good, nobody has yet argued to the contrary.
It's a trash melee weapon, yet regularly scores top of the board with top kills. All jokes aside, I will try doing what you have suggested, If it works I'll let you know. In my experience the d-bash does not go off fast enough before they squash you. Besides, all they have to do is spam lights to break your weapon eventually. Countering a powerfist still hurts your weapon broskie.
