Joined this site today, dont know if this has been anwsered or not, but i was wondering about other fast attack units like SM bikers, Eldar jetbikes etc. Is this something that will be considered as a class, or as a equipment?
So, where are the Engineer classes? Are they going to be Elite? I figured Engineers were just as important as Healers, and that they just have different jobs. But I guess I could understand the decision for balance reasons.
In livestream it's been shown that for now Devestators/Havocs have repair kits for vehicles. From what I can find, nothing shown or stated about the other races. I expect to see a Techmarine Elite/Hero unit for SM and equivalent for the others. On the thread previously Eldar Bonesingers have been discussed which isn't a direct combat unit but they are Path of Shaping which is closely related to the Path of the Seer, so maybe Warlocks can become Engineer, Support/Healing or Offensive types? Other than that I figure Dire Avengers or Fire Dragons or Dark Reapers to have repair kits.
I like the idea of Elite classes being way more diverse than just "bigger, faster, stronger" standard classes. We will have to wait to see how "Healers" are implemented, considering that any class can pick up a downed (wounded, crawling around in the "bad sushi" pose ala Gears of War) comrade. The Store shows the Eldar as getting a Ranger as an Elite. Without more specifics, I am speculating that perhaps the Ranger will serve as "an extreme long range" sniping unit, filling a particular niche role that no standard class can. In the same vein, for Engineers/Vehicle Repair classes, it would be a quite cool gameplay dynamic to make such classes Elite units. Automatically incorporates a VIP/Escort sub-mission type into the gameplay. Think about it.... Take a typical Space Marine squad, made up of each standard class and a Predator and a Rhino. They go all shooty and choppy at the enemy and then earn enough Resource Points (...or whatever they will be called, RP for short) to purchase an Elite unit. Now, one path would be to call in a Terminator or a Legion of the Damned character and kick even more ass on foot...HOWEVER, they decide instead to call in a Techmarine who can repair/boost/augment their two vehicles. But the squad needs to keep the Techmarine alive at all costs so that instead of their two vehicles serving simple as rides, they are now an effective armored unit able to outfight and outlast opposing armor units. Of course, the peculiarities of each faction would make it more interesting: a Techmarine is basically a Tactical Marine that can fix vehicles albeit at a slow rate, whereas the Eldar bonesinger has minimal (if any) weaponry, but provides mega buffs and repairs to vehicles. Etc... Just my moment on the stage, full of sound and fury.
How will the jetpacking/launching be different for the swooping hawk, assault marine, stormboy and raptor?
I think swooping hawk will have more agility while in the air, so a dash to the sides should be possible. Assault Marine and Raptor will be kinda the same. For orks...i think it will be while jumping in the air and comming down, will do damage, but they cant manouvr so got. Imagine a rock with a rocket attached to it. Goes up fast, comes down faster.
