Has it been addressed yet about the 3rd Ork klass being 'Eavy/Lootaz? Have they just not yet decided between the two? Is it going to perhaps vary based on your Klan? Why call em 'Eavy, and not 'Ard Boyz, when 'Eavy is just a type of armor that 'Ard Boyz wear? (Like Power Armor etc. for other races.) Also, why Shoota boyz and not Slugga/Shoota boys? If they end up going with Lootaz only, does that mean the only primary class melee option for Orks is going to be Storm boyz? That seems kinda weird if so, or are Slugga's what the F2Waaagh players will be, if so does that mean you can't be one as a paid player if you choose to? Also, no mention of Burna Boyz or Tankbustas, will these just be kinda Lootaz with different weapon options, or will they be separate classes altogether, having them as Elites when their counterparts in Eldar society are normal primaries seems strange. Orks seem just as specialized as Eldar do honestly, they could stand to have a similarly large primary class list imo. Da questions, Dey need answer.
That is extremely good to hear. I assume it's going to be similar to Planetside2 progression based on that statement, with a bit more unchangeable stuff. Honestly I'd prefer (and think it would work very well) if your character was stuck with whatever faction and subfaction they chose, but could level up their classes as they saw fit. Would be a lot of fun and would still give people good reason to buy more character slots. Not sure how I feel about other areas becoming restricted on your character as you progress though.
I was just checking back on this thread with a lot of the same things on my mind. The more I think about it, the more I personally feel the Orks should have a more diverse class line up to choose from, similar to Eldar. Orks aren't bound by the Codex Astartes, so I dont see how you can have all the Ork "specialists" doing their thing with only 4 classes. As mentioned above, Tankbustas, Ard Boyz, Scar Boyz, Mek Boyz, Herdas(Squig herders), Runtherds(Squig herder/slaver.. great "Pet" type class), Burna Boyz, Kommando, Killa Kan, Stormboyz, Deff Dreads, An assortment of Captains, Big Meks, Slugga Boyz, Stikk Bomba Boyz. I understand some units will be Hero/Elite(Meganobz, Weirdboyz, Nob Captains, Warlord's Retinue, Kommando Captains), however I still dont see how 3 basic classes can cover all of that, that's discounting the Painboyz. Unless you're going to give Orks a ton of Elite classes that are extremely cheap. I dont see how you can simply lump Tankbustas in with Eavy Loota, Tankbusta's are specialists vs heavy armor, with an assortment of hand held as well as shoulder fired anti tank weapons. Nor do I see how you can just count out Tankbustas as a viable class. I'll say again, I fear that the Ork Loota, Shoota, and Stormboy are going to have to fill too many roles. They have super heavy melee specialists, and light/faster melee specialists, melee/ranged hybrids, as well as the whole list of ranged specialists. Instead of being very strong at one roll, the 3 non medic Ork basic classes will have to cover too many roles.. spreading out training points over a wide variety of skills and weapons. Resulting in the Ork classes being the "jack of all trades, masters of NONE".
Source on that? the only thing they said is that some character nodes will be useful for every class, but I always thought they will be something like "bigger pockets: carry extra ammo for your main gun" and stuff like that they never talked about weapons
Will DA have Deathwing/Ravenwing Knights ? Also bonuses like prefered enemy Chaos/ Stubbrorn / Plasmaphilia ( plasma for plasma god!). Also specific weapon special choice like plasma cannon for TA,CML upgrade, teleportation bonus ... etc? Also if i become Deathwing by back story I can't use normal SM armor in fight ( DW always use TA)
Sub-Faction specific specialty classes would be a very nice additions and go a long ways to making your choices matter. Should be interesting to see how this shapes up.
Nope, mostly conjecture. I know Michael's specifically mentioned LSM Tacticals possibly having Assault-only weapon options as part of their expanded Veteran progression loadouts. Power Fists was the example he gave. That and some stuff from late last year about 'hybridized' vets, but no there isn't any conclusive stuff for what advanced-classes will get aside from moar loadout points. Reaper equipped Scorpion would be just a little OP. Swooping Banshees ... RUN !!
