    That's stupid.

Eldar's advantage is speed for crying out loud.

Every Banshee is already dreaming when they rush an Astartes with melee weapons head on. Plenty of Sleeping Beautys I would say.

Personally, im not jealous, not even a little bit. Awesome defense for an awesome enemy means lot more of a challenge to kill one.

About the "Orks not having enough melee classes"...

What stops a shoota from having a choppa on his belt or back?

Being a "shoota" may only mean that you have a proper two handed ranged weapon, but it does not limit you to shooting.

I'd say that every ork is melee capable. Absolutely every ork. The class names and weaponry varies, yes... and some are better equipped for melee than others...

But while a Devastator in melee is, in comparison to a melee specialist space marine, crap, orks are different.

A normal ork in melee is awesome, and compared to a melee specialized, is "less awesome", but awesome still.

So I would give that to the orks. Free choppas, no space in the loadout cost, no requisition points cost, for EVERY ORK ALIVE. Or at the minimum, a racial trait called "Take the choppaz boyz!" that would grant for some time a berserker rage and a melee weapon (normal) to any ork that activated it.

That way every ork can be melee, and when out of ammo, or when in dire need, they can all be proper melee-waaaaagh!ers. The only difference is that the melee specialists (Assault orks) are just better due to talents, but every other ork is competent in melee, and equipped for it.

    What do you think?

I was close but it wasn't 100% true what I said.

We could still be faster than other classes... but not while sprinting.

This thread is about the classes. I am talking about how to make every ork class melee capable, because orks, no matter their class, are melee capable.

It's within classes. So it's not a bad place to talk about it. Even though the ork section could also be a good place, I don't want to start an entire thread about it. Just mentioning here what people has commented here about their worries about the ork classes being too "shooty".

I'm going to actually use this quote as my avatar to further debunk statements like this. "War is not balanced", get over it. If the Eldar community does not agree with that design and we are playing the faction, guess who is mainly allowed to throw opinions to and fro.

About melee classes, I think that they should be devastating in melee, like almost no chance to survive against them If you're not a melee class yourself.

Howling Banshees have power weapons, which cut through power armor like butter, but they are fragile.

They are what I call "crystal cannons". Fragile but devastating. I think Banshees don't have to be tougher to "be able to get into melee". I think they have to make a clever use of the cover, sneak, flank, or get close with a Wave Serpent (transport).

If people wants simple, easy "go straight and smash", Eldar is not the race for them, I am afraid.

Choose Ork for that kind of playstyle.

bullocks. when a druid in wow is slapping warriors around like nothing, are only druids allowed to make a oppinion? or is it only warriors who have a say?

you have to keep perspective, playing as and against eldar both has to be satisfying

Going to have to agree with you.

Though I must say, already balancing it by reducing their speed and giving them a shield instead seems premature.

Wait what? Eldar will move the same speed as marines? That's... super disappointing if true.

Yeah, challenge the melee specialist in melee. That'll go great.
