That would be the ideal solution. I always wondered why they chose such a silly system. I assume it is due to their fear of cooldowns in the game?
Personally I wasn't aware of this effect until just a few days ago. It isn't often I am hit by an Apo in melee when I play my CSM character (or any for that matter. That being said, I assumed it was just a bug so I never really brought it up in balance discussions as it looked obviously unintended. If it is intended then....yeah it needs some toning down, it's a little over the top.
The bugs were fixed after several months. Have they been tuned? If you're saying that, then you completely missed the point of it, and there certainly isn't any reason to continue.

okay..... not entirely sure how all functions in forums work so i wont be us using the multi reply thing, but any ways, i agree on two fronts and i main chaps sorcerer perils of the warp is needed even ifits a simple over heat mechanic and instead of outright nerfing the range i would prefer to see the direct damage mitigated greatly and poison stacks applied some what slower, akin to boltogun damage drop off but obviously more....intense?...... in relation if i remember right psykrs powers have great ranges in lore. perhaps have the TTK closer to a bottlers at close range, not matching, in terms of direct damage and dot application both. but have its TTK dramatically less then an acurate stalker boltgun and such at longer ranges? (aka shorter TTK at close range, highr then boltor still obviously, higher at long via lessenign dot and direct damage. while on the flip side increasing it versus closer as to not be useless entirely) so i agree with the "heat/perils" mechanic and ranged dot and damage mitigation over distances, but i do believe it should be counter balanced by being more effective at close ranges as well. sorry for the wall of text!
And yet, you're here saying those things, which robs you of any perceived moral high ground you thought you had. The evidence I have for you is your post I quoted back when you started this. Here's a protip: it's not "evidence" if you just claim to have seen something, that's still just you talking. So spool up the damage for SoC up close, and leave it how it is at longer range? It has a TTK of 10-11 seconds at all ranges, bolters still kill faster than that at SoC's max range.
Its path 18 hotfix 5 right now. The range is not that great. I do not see it spammed that much. Most of the ASs I see are healing. I am a crappy player so I try to use it to get some kills. It really does not do that much. It's more of a fear factor than actually doing damage. I shoot it into a friggen JPA who is taking down 2 assaults and a tactical--everyone is spamming RMB. He finally dies after taking out three players. That friggen JPA is OP, not the AS.
When you try to share reason like this, it just gets swept aside. Never mind that playing another class would let you take down many more people in the time required to take down one with SoC, like you said.
I mean more like skill cooldowns than anything. Also, I like the lascannon hahaha. Yeah the cooldown can be a bit off putting, but it's still the tops for AV work in my book.
