I had this idea a while back while playing with my military realism outfit in PS2. How about we make gestures ingame, like winking and stuff like that, allowing you to communicate and give orders while keeping radio silence. Would this be a good idea?
Gestures is something interesting, yes. But I think that your Squad voice coms won't be heard by surrounding enemies though. We sure will have Charge gestures and things like that but for now it was either planned to support the Voice Chat/Command system or, obviously, the Executions. A few silent ones could be added maybe - there are probably of few situations where it should come handy. Thanks for letting us know that this is a feature you would like.
Firstly, I think this is a great idea. Having in game gesture commands would really help command your team in a battle. But that said, it would probably be more than what is needed for the game. They may favor the VOIP system over the hand signs?
well in situations where stealth is an issue (scouts for example), there could be bleedover chatter on enemy comms from your comms. Or killing an enemy and removing his head, along with the helmet gives you a couple of seconds to listen in on his comms...this is all assuming in game voice and not a 3rd party...i would think that hand signals would be a fantastic idea for certain classes.
An MMO I am playing has an "Emotes" Tab which is nonverbal communication. You select someone, click "Emotes" and you have a list of dozens of options: wave, beckon, cheer, congratulate, dance, etc. You can also hotbar a particular Emote if you choose.
Emotes would look quite silly IMO. But in some situations, e.g. while breaching, it can be useful to do the gestures for "Move on" "Halt" etc
Obviously they'd adapt the Emotes, although Orks might want to dance around. Things like "Signal Halt" and "Signal Move Ahead with Caution" are good. What about "Salute" though? Salute. Glare. Give Sign of Aquila. Those are just a couple off of the top of my head. With some imagination, I'm sure we could come up with quite a few more WH appropriate Emotes.
