Nobz And Their Roles In Ec

Discussion in 'Orks' started by Big-Snazz, Jan 20, 2015.

  1. i guess the only difference between nob and boy would be the size
so a nob would be bigger (maybe 50%?) but gets more HP cause he is a bigger target

but well it seems i have missunderstood patrick
still hope they will go this route

Glad that my point regarding Ork classes got across, because that's what's important.

About SM vs Ork, yes, according to lore, we see SMs slaughter Orks by the thousands, but lore can be exaggerating sometimes. If we take game balance such as DoW for example, Ork Boyz can still beat SMs if they get in melee, especially Devastator because they're usually the fresh SM recruits. Size-wise, an Ork is wider but a little shorter than a SM, but that's because they have crooked legs, a Nob is definitely bigger. Both Boy and Nob are as physically strong as SM, if not stronger, they do lack in skills however, but they make up for it with their strength and endurance, an Ork without an arm or a leg can still fight very effectively, just like SM. Moreover, I didn't say Ork could easily kill SM in lore, I meant that SM are smart enough to keep them at distance to void the Ork of their advantage which is melee, a SM can get into hand in hand combat with an Ork and still win, but with hundreds of Ork jumping on you, that's too much of a risk to take.

I do hope that they can make them vary in size too. I will be very disappointing to spawn as a Nob, which I have to pay resource for, just to find out that I only stand as tall as the Boyz I'm supposed to lead. It won't fit the lore either, the team know this, there's no way a Boy will listen to the Nob if he's not bigger than them. I just hope they do have enough time and resource for this.

Basically, from what has been posted here, and what has been stated previously it will work like this:

All Ork players start out as boyz, premium players have more class choices than standard players but the power/strength of a boy is such that it should take 3 boyz to take down 1 space marine, although it has been stated that if you are good enough you can take down a marine single handed, it will just be difficult.

Orkz have vertical progression that all premium players have access to but F2W players do not and that progression leads to unlocking the Nob, all premium players can unlock the Nob and then play as a Nob without using any RP, it's a permanent upgrade on the boy. This brings the premium ork into power/strength equality with the space marine on a 1:1 basis.

F2W orkboyz can also get this vertical progression if they pay in the RT and they can unlock it in the same way as a premium player, but for them it will be time limited the same as a space marine champion.

The Nobz use exactly the same classes as the boyz.

Demonstrably false, Nobz lead units just like Space Marine captains do, there are Nobz leading every type of unit and they come up through the ranks. Things like Stormboyz are actually an entire cult in Ork society and you have everything from grots to boyz to Nobz to bosses as members, just like the cult of speed.

In fact my biggest bugbear about the way Orkz are setup is that there is no such thing as a "Goff Stromboy" or a stormboy of a specific clan, as stormboyz, like freebootaz are outcasts. They have left their clanz, been rejected even, for being too organized and disciplined. Same goes for Kommandoz.

Back on topic, the boos is then an unlockable time limited veteran class, like the other factions have.

It's been stated a while back in the "pay to win" thread that the idea is that all of the F2W players will be boyz, all of the premium Orkz will be Nobz and the green tide is expected to have a ratio of 1 Nob to 9 boyz on the battlefield at all times.

  7. uh....im getting VERY conflicting information. you tell me that all payed players and nobz, and that payed players unlock nobz as well? doesn't that go against vertical progression? what i've been hearing, from patrick, is that you will be picking a class, and then paying extra RQ to spawn as a nob version of that class, and that only payed players can do that.
also, why is the space marine champ time limited? or is there a cooldown to spawn it? I don't want to be using a champ or something and then suddenly die or disappear because the timer ended. please tell me that's not whats planned.

yes. special nobz and special marines can kill scores of the other. boyz who kill marines alone GET PROMOTED TO NOB as soon as they can, as you JUST said. so...your kinda further proving my point.

To spawn as Elite/Hero we know there is an RP price and a cooldown which triggers on death to prevent spamming of that class (global cooldown across each Elite maybe?). A timer on Elites/Heroes would be silly and frustrating so I highly doubt that.

"Uh, where did the boss go?"
"Dunno. He/she was right there a second ago."
"He/she better get back we need it!"
-meanwhile at a respawn screen with the boss in question- "Damn it, I wasn't done being awesome yet!"

If players manage to stay alive as high value targets those classes are they deserve to stay that class until they fall in combat or log out. So I have spoken! And so it shall be! I hope.

Devastators are not fresh SM recruits. Fresh SM recruits are scouts. Most Space Marines have gone through decades of training and battles as scouts before they become Space Marines. Devastators are just specialist Space Marines like Assault Marines; it doesn't mean they are weaker or better then a Tactical Marine in regards to experience.

Scouts ---> Space Marine ---> Veterans.

That is how it goes, within 'Space Marines' are the branches of specialist such as Tactical, Assault Marine, and Devastator. The difference in experience is on a Marine to Marine basis, not on if they are a Devastator or Tactical.

The way I understood it was that Orkz were the only faction with vertical progression from boy to Nob because boyz are weaker than every other base unit type in every other faction and Nobz are on par with them. Everyone starts as boyz but premium players get to progress to Nob.

There are Nobz in the elite section that are bought with RP and on a cooldown but they are bigger than the regular Nobz and are units like Mega Armoured Nobz, which the Ork TEQ unit.

The Space Marine champion is time limited, not because he is an elite but because every faction will have a champion status that they can activated that allows them to used more loadout points than normal to make their regular character tougher. I assume that's the same with the Ork Boss but have no confirmation.
