I have read that as well and that is how its going to be. Info may be in one of those big info threads, not sure.
Hmm this sounds like they will give you the option for playablility sake but that it may be frown upon. I like the idea of Squads that are class restricted a bit more. If i want to play in a Assualt role then i join an Assualt Squad, if i want to play in a Tactical role then i join a Tac Squad. If i want to man a Pred then i join the Pred Squad lol, such and so forth. If i want to play with friends then an option for a closed squad or invites would work. From a leadership point of view i would hate mixed squads. Example: I need you three Tac Squads to pressure Objective A, Assualt Squad 1 and 2 i want you to try and take Objective D while they are distracted at A, and Savji with your 2 las cannon guys, 3 assualt marines, plasma gunner, 2 tac marines and TH SS Termie i want you to.... keep doing whatever it is your doing! Lol its just not an effective use of resources, though i bet it would be fun and could still pack a punch, particularly with friends.
i think the problem will fix itself the warcouncil will give the objective for the strikeforceleaders the strikeforce leaders will give objectives which support reaching the warcouncil objective to squad leaders and the squadleaders will organize their squads to reach that objective and if you have no strikeforce then you will just do what you want to get the warcouncil objective ^^ the good leaded squads will have some strucutre in their squads (which weapons/classes) so everyone can choose if they want to be a part of an organized squad or a random fun squad
Honestly, I want to see a total upgrade system for each and every race. The orks should start as like gretchin and at say lvl 10 maybe you become a normal sized ork. So as to make it not unbalanced, their should be the same system for all races. I am not sure, however how you would implement the system on the other races.
they dont want that normal MMO feeling BUUH DAT ORK HAVE SOME BIG SHOULDERS... oh he onehited me while i managed to cut off his little toe..abit they want to give even the freshest newby a chance to kill a veteran if he manage to get in a situation to his advantage and i think its the best way they could go
As Savij said They tried to do something similar, it was called Warhammer Online, and it failed lol. As much as it would be cool to be able to start off small and see the character progression over time thats not going to happen. And i say that with 100% confidence from everything i have seen and read so far from the Dev's and Community. Best you can hope for is playing as a SM you will be smaller then a Termie, or playing as a Boy you will be smaller then a Nob. Class sizes i think they can do and not affect the serve load too much. (it trying to rending each individual character at different sizes isnt good aparently) Lol not to mention (but still mentioning lol) a Gretchin is a different sub species of the Orkoid race. Thats like saying you should be able to play as a Squid and then upgrade to an Ork. Doesnt work at all with the fluff.
More that i didnt know, i played my one month free trial of Warhammer Online and got myself out of there lol
Visual customzation and a class tree progession system should work well for this. Make it so players have to earn wargear, classes, and special roles like libby, Chaplain and Dreadnoughts.
