No Spanish Version

Discussion in 'General Discussion' started by Vael, Nov 16, 2013.

  1. We aren't getting a Spanish version of the game on release, are we? It doesn't affect me directly, as I play most games on English even if there is a Spanish version, but I know a huge bunch of friends (all of them 40k fans) that will be very disappointed by these... again. It's like there are no spanish players out there, but I'm pretty sure there are more spanish and spanish-talking players out there than german.

But the money is where it is, isn't it?

I'm sure there's nothing stopping the devs from having localizations of the game in different languages, but seeing as the game will hopefully use one server cluster, there won't really be much more than that. Don't expect Spanish or even generally European servers.

Localization comes pretty late on development, chances are nothing is set on stone
  5. Well, I was not expecting servers, that's not what I meant, but the interface language. Also, Not having an Spanish subforum is a great hint IMO.
  6. Haven't had very many Spanish speakers on the forum yet. The faction threads were half-made up of Russian, French, and German posters just posting in their languages, so they broke them out. If enough spanish speakers come on here, a forum will be made for them too. So far they haven't really made their presence felt.

To be fair, Warhammer is HUGE in Russia and Germany. The Russian and German servers were by far the most heavily populated in Warhammer Online after English.

On the plus side, the game is planned to take a more procedural approach to content rather than a scripted approach. So rather than having hours and hours of voice acting they need to record and script they need to translate, they only need enough translation for a functional UI plus whatever ambient voice acting they include. One benefit of that is how much less time it takes to localize the game to another language. Spanish and Portuguese, if they aren't already available at launch, should be quick to make.

por favor aunque sea subtitulado XD

It is true that this game needs not that much translation, so that's why I expects it to be in Spanish. I could understand it to not be in Spanish if the game were a regular MMO, though, still, there are a huge amount of spanish-speakers out there, again, more than german (nothing against germans, it's just a fact). But with this little ammount of "lore", or scripted dialogs, I think it should be in Spanish from day 1, at least subtitled, as Txus up here says.
