Wrong thread? That sounds like you might have meant to put it here: http://forum.eternalcrusade.com/thr...its-and-restrictions-for-dungeons.2753/page-2
I don't feel as if I'm ignoring it, simple fact is that most people won't be one of those powerful/elite infantry units. Most of them will be Conscripts for a long time (If there is any kind of balanced progression anyway), their basic equipment as a Guardsman will leave them not really being able to compete from the off which is where the issue comes in. Vehicles, True they are incredibly strong but again you're not going to have 10 Baneblades roaming as a group because that's just silly.
Well actually Conscripts are an Emergency way to face an Enemy that would otherwise be to strong to face. The normal Guardsmen gets drilled and trained on a level comparable to Spetznaz, Navy Seals, KSK and so on. And only the most elite Soldiers of the PDF get to serve in the Guard since it can even cost the Governor his life to send unworthy Soldiers into Duty.
Should have clarified, I meant equipment wise they will just be standard conscript Guardsmen with their Flak Vest and Lasgun.
And God forbid your a Cadian Guard, or one of the many death world guard detachments. Even after that, you'd probably start the game above the standard level of soldier anyway such as a Veteran Leading into something akin to Stormtroopers or drop troopers. so in agreeance with the above there are certainly ways to balance guard but it's just not as easy a task for this type of game, so like Necrons and Tau the Guard take a shelf role for the moment.
If the regiments are what I think they will be, the Kriegers are going to be the faction that is able to keep up the best. They are like a medium between Tau and conscripts as their rifles are overpowered as all hell, and they actually practice melee combat on a regular basis. I can see them being squishier than a marine, but these guys have full body flak armor under their coats, which should be able to be upgraded to carapace armor after playing for a bit. And yes their weapons are known to punch through heavy armor, so these are no ordinary flashlights.
Hey is there a place to offer suggestions like we came up with here so the Dev's can see it? Even if they don't act on it until later, I would love to offer the idea to them if they're interested. Also, just curious, if you guys had to choose the classes for the IG, what would you think would make for the best units to play as? This isn't so much a what's your favorite unit question, as it is a what classes you think would best work together, and also properly represent the IG.
