the bolter in sm was utter shit, from gameplay to damage to feeling to sound. the only thing they got right was the model, otherwise that thing was more close to a lasgun than a bolter.

also i very much fear this will just be another "inovative" shooter with 40k skins. i wouldnt hold my hopes too high if i were you guys.

actually dark eldar are kinda interesting. how often do you get to play those races in 40k games anyway ?

I actually mentioned this in another thread (making them the 5th Space Marine choice, kinda as a joke) but, as was brought up, they are actually capable of forming a complete side of their own since they have 6 iirc Orders of their own. That and they probably wanted the SM to be all SM and save Sisters for an expansion.

For once I am agreeing with you.

I really don't have a problem with them being a side unto themselves, but I also see both sides of the argument. But we're already having to throw a lot of lore out of the window just to have people coming and going in Dread and Term armour. I mean, I don't know how they're going to get around that.

It would just seem that maybe they'd have to be the elites and possibly balance it so that they were more vehicle dependent yet had more options. Possibly (not knowing the mechanics yet of course) able to build/spawn/repair/ WTF ever, vehicles, turrets, (turrets are good!), pillboxes, things that other sides can't do. And Ogyrn are tough. Throw a few of them on the field. Why not play a meathead. I don't know how that progression path would go.

Again, maybe already discussed, just throwing it out there. That's the way I see them being a viable side without being the normal cannon fodder that they are.

*edit oh and I meant to say spawn vehicles possibly at a faster rate depending on the mechanics (but starting thinking of other things they could do, lol)

ummm, what? I may have skipped a few posts, so I am not exactly sure what you are talking about here, but isn't the whole point of this game (and on line gaming in general) to be away from reality?

I was glad to see that as well.

The Bolter is just too powerful of a weapon to have represented in a fluff accurate way without the whole game going to shit. You would literally have to play as a carnifex to not die in one hit and even then a few shots to the brain and bug goo covers the map. I can understand your complaint about the Space Marine game bolter, but gameplay wise the gun is actually pretty solid. It is well balanced and is fun to use. Granted it is not the one hit kill monstrosity that Stahl seems to want, but gameplay wise it was a good weapon. Guys this is a game, not a book, if they break some lore that is OK as long as it makes the game fun for everyone. I can understand if some fans want a strict interpretation, but for the devs to make money the game has to be fun for a wider audience than just the die hard fans. And if to do that they have to power up the guard a bit, that is OK.
