No Playable Imperial Guard? :(

  1. Most people just see the Grey Knights armor and weapons and think "oooo shiney"

I do understand this, but part of the appeal to me of playing guard is that they are squishy, and in all probability the bolter will be about a tenth of the strength that it is in the fluff, in SM the game you can empty a clip of bolter ammo into an SM and just kill it, maybe have a few shots left ( using standard non enhanced bolter, kraken rounds make it a lot more deadly but they fluff wise are predominantly used for Tyrinids).
The way we are looking at it also assumes that all the shots hit and the person did not ducking into cover or around a corner as you do when you are shot at in games.
In your analogy it would also take the same time to kill a SM as the weapon if fully auto.

Any way the really point is here that regardless of how we go on about bolter strength it wont be that way in the game, It logically cant be, as the basic weapon for a SM is a weapon that fires chemically propelled gyro synced rocket accelerated 2 staged armour penetrating grenade that can take out tanks... also its fully auto and has 20-30 shots per clip.

Now if you think that that is going into the game then there is no point in this conversation.
As a lot of people have pointed out, this may have a fluffy story, but the game play mechanics will not be, they can not be if any sort of balance is going to be attained.
  3. A tenth strength is nerfing it into the ground far too much, one of the biggest complaints about the Bolter in Space Marine was how weak it was and honestly that needs to be fixed in Eternal Crusade.

That's fair, I haven't done the math to work out what a good ratio would be, but with 40k weaponry we are dealing with some heavy kit and the forces involved with them are impressive, i'll look that up and come up with a better balance figure.

    When i say
I speak about Inquisition team... I'm agree with Tornadium at 100 %
Don't understand why you like my post Urilian ...

I liked your post because what you said is true, a lot of people don't know the lore for 40k, I just think that the game will probably make them want to find out more about it.
I have been playing 40k for 12 years, I am in no way saying I'm an expert on the fluff just that I've been reading and playing for a long time and realised that the fluff and the game are always very different.
As to why I liked your post, just because we are arguing in favour of different things dose not mean that I cant like what you have to say or respect your opinion

Well dev said they want more faction. But i know that except SoB every other race will be very hard to do and there will be some lorebreaking. That is why they choose those 4 for launch. If we go by lore like tornadium want then IG are too weak. DE do not have better armor than IG except one class i think they are faster and they can dodge but one hit kill cannot be there. Necrons too OP can kill everything in one hit.Tau are even worse than IG in CC yes they have kroots but kroots are squishy and do not wear armor one hit kill tau fire warrior maybe can survive few bolter round but are squishy so they die in two three maybe. And for existing eldar guardian and ranger cannot be there because one hit kill. And ork boyz by lore they usually die in one shot from bolter (usually). So yeah there will be some lorebreaking but they said fun>lore. So i hope there will be a place for IG but they of course must be more squishy than space marine. And no offense to thornadium i actually in some things agree with you.

I actually really liked the Bolter in space marine, taking out guys with it was pretty easy after a while, just watch out for the incoming jetpack hammer bros lol and you were fine (Though plucking them outta the sky was fantastic). Powering it to a near godly status that you guys hold it to might be problematic in a game play/balance perspective. Though honestly at this point I'm not sure if the devs are going for balance or lore...and I feel like a middle ground approach will just wind up annoying all parties at this point.

Also back on topic, I still think the IG should be added to the Space Marine side later down the road. Unless they go for, as you guys suggested, a mix of IG and Sisters of battle in a Inquisition style team up.

And also please no more 1v1 stuff, if this game is going to be about giant war zones, then 1v1 is kinda irrelevant. If it's designed well, each race will have multiple counters to each factions units, so at that point it doesn't really matter who/what killed you when god knows how much artillery, lasers, bolters, etc...will be firing off in every direction. So regardless of how strong whatever unit/enemy is, they are probably still going to be dying in large numbers (Which is again another reason to get the IG involved lol).
